Twenty-sixth Beat

"Balik na tayo," Maine whispered when they pulled away from kissing. Yes, again.

She took his luggage and realized it was way lighter when they arrived. "Langya ka! Wala palang laman," Maine laughed.

Richard scratched his ear in embarrassment. "Ih...arte lang yon. Kailangan dramatic yung exit."

"Ang pabebe mo," she playfully slapped his chest. They walked back in the resort, his arm around her.

"Wait," Maine said, stopping Richard in his tracks.

"What?"

"Janine. Your cousin might still be there," Maine warned him.

"Let's face her together. If she can't accept your decision, then she can leave."

When they came in, Maine's hunch was right. Janine was still there.

"I'm glad for the both you," Janine said.

Maine didn't say a thing.

"Jans, if you want Maine back I'm sorry because--"

"What? No, no," Janine chuckled at what Richard said.

What?

"I don't want Maine back. I just wanted to talk to her," Janine confessed.

Both Maine and Richard were confused.

"I wanted to apologize for what I did, and I'm glad I had the chance to do that," Janine smiled. "I don't want to get in the way of your relationship. You clearly love each other," she teased, which made them both blush. "Besides, I'm about to be engaged."

"About to be...?"

"Oh, my boyfriend's too predictable," Janine chuckled. "He can't surprise me anymore because everything he does, I know."

"Why don't we know anything about this boyfriend of yours?" Richard asked.

"Is it bad to keep my relationship a secret from you?"

"From your family, yes," Richard replied.

"I just want to keep it between me and him. If I tell everyone they'll meddle again," Richard nodded in understanding.

"Oh pano? I'll go back to my villa na. Give youtwo some time alone," Janine smirked. "Oh, and by the way...Maine? Pumpkin? Moans are too loud. I heard 'em when I passed by last night. Good thing we're the only ones here," she said and went out.

Maine's mouth was left agape.

"I...I knew they were loud, but I didn't know they reached outside," Richard muttered.

She recovered from it faced Richard. "Well, now she knows you're doing a great job," Maine said. She held his collar and slowly pulled him towards their room. "Let's make her hear it again."
