Twentieth Beat

After eating, the two made their way to Richard's car. He blindfolded him when she sat on the passenger seat.

"What's this for?"

"Para masurprise ka talaga," Richard said.

"Are you bringing me to your red room?" Maine smirked.

"I don't have a red room," Richard answered. "Pero if you want one I can have one made."

"Write that on your bucket list," Maine replied.

Richard started the engine and drove away.

She fell asleep on the ride. Richard woke her up when they've arrived.

"We're here."

"Can I take this off now?"

"Not yet," he said and guided her to walk.

What? Sand? She thought. She felt she was stepping on sand.

That sound...the smell..

"Are we at the beach?" Maine asked, surprised.

"Ano ba yan," Richard said and took of her blindfold.

The beautiful view of the beach met her eyes.

"I asked dad if we could have the resort to ourselves for quite a while," Richard said.

"You can come back here anytime."

"Thank you!" Maine leaped into his arms and hugged him.

"Glad you like it," Richard hugged her back.

"Like it? Are you kidding me? I love it!" Maine looked around. "And we seriously have this all to ourselves?"

Richard nodded. "God bless your father and his richness," Maine said, which made Richard laugh.

"Come on. There are lots of activities that we can do here. Snorkeling, surfing, banana boat riding, whatever you want," Richard said.

Richard took a villa that had 2-3 bedrooms, but they decided to share a room because why wouldn't they?

"This is so beautiful," Maine said and jumped on the bed.

"So, what do you want to do in the resort's activities?" He asked and sat beside her.

Maine faced him. "Are you included in those activities?" She smiled sexily.

"I definitely am," then he kissed her.

Maine woke up and looked outside the window. It was already evening when they woke up.

She tried to get up without Richard knowing, but before she could even stand up, Richard wrapped his arms around her.

"Saan ka pupunta?" He said in his sleepy voice.

Maine smiled. "Magc-cr lang po."

He unwrapped his arms from her and let her go.

When she got out of the bathroom,. Richard wasn't there anymore.

She found him preparing food in the kitchen.

She wrapped her arms around her and rested her chin on his shoulder.

"What are you making?"

"Chicken alfredo for dinner," he replied.

"You're really good at cooking. Why become a med student?"

"It's been my dream to become a doctor," he replied chopping the ingredients.

"Hmm," she said and hugged him tighter. "Ang swerte ko naman sayo. Matalino, mabait, marunong magluto, gwapo..."

"Mukhang gusto mo na akong pakasalan ah," he joked. She fell silent and let go of him.

He turned to her. "Hey, are you okay?"

"Huh? Ah...."

"I was just joking, Maine. I know you're not there yet."

She saw her expression changed. I'll get there, Richard. Wait for me.
