"Hey love, I have work off today. Do you wanna go do something?" I asked Steven, my boyfriend of two years.
He shrugged, not bothering to look up from his phone as he sat sluggishly on the couch.
"I dunno, babe. I'm kind of tired," He responded blankly.
"It's only 9:30 in the morning."
"Yeah, well I was out all night!" He yelled back.
"Alright, sorry," I mumbled, heading out the door. "I'm going to grab coffee."
I shut the door behind me and took a deep breath.
'I love him,' I reminded myself as I walked downstairs, and out of the apartment complex.
My favorite little coffee shop, Local Hero, was right across from my apartment, which was great for when I was heading off to work in a rush.
I headed into the shop and was immediately hit with a pleasant wave of the smell of coffee.
I gave a friendly smile and wave to Lynda, the shop owner. She ran the place with her husband Mark. She was this 37 year old friendly lady, always sweet to all customers. She was lovely to talk to.
"Hey, Lynda."
"Hello, Emma! The usual?" She asked in a loving tone.
I nodded with a smile and payed, before sitting down at my usual spot in the back corner near the large windows.
I took out my phone from my bag and scrolled through Instagram, though nothing particularly stood out to me. It was the same, normal, boring feed.
"Emma," The barista called out to me with a friendly smile.
I got up and grabbed my coffee. "Thank you."
I sat back down in my usual place, occasionally sipping on my coffee.
I glanced up to see a (Quite attractive) guy sitting across from me, occasionally looking up at me.
He rubbed the back of his neck, looking down at his phone, pretending to surf through it.
"Tom?" The barista called out.
The guy got up, getting his coffee, thanked the barista sweetly, and sat back down.
'Tom..' I repeated in my mind, before my eyes went slightly wide as I took another glance at him.
