Once you almost fell asleep in the bath twice now, you decided to get out before Connor broke down the door to see if you were dead or not. You tugged on your clothing, alongside your new clothes, and exited the small bathroom. As you neared the kitchen, the most mouth-watering smell you've ever remembered smelling hit your nose. You peeked your head around the corner to find Connor at the stovetop.
"Since when could you cook?" You asked. From what you've seen, this Android could basically do everything. Connor turned around to see where the noise had come from. He gave his weird smile when he saw you.
"I see you're finished. I was starting to wonder if you were okay." He spoke.
"Yeah, I figured..." You smiled lazily as you set your old clothes on the table. The...completely spotless table.
"What did you do?" You asked. Connor set the now finished food off to the side.
"I decided it was time for a change. I noticed this morning you were looking at the pile of dishes in the sink, so I washed them and returned them to their respective places." He explained. You smiled wide. The house did look much nicer from when you first found it. You walked over to peer at what he had made. It appeared to be F/F. You can't remember if you remember what it tastes like.
"And you can cook?" Connor shook his head slightly.
"Even if I was programmed to serve in the police force, I have learned how to accomplish basic household tasks from other humans and Androids." You let out a hum as your response. You were about to take a plate of the food, when his hand reached your shoulder. Connor smiled down at you.
"You were going to sleep, correct?" He reminded you.
"Yeah, you're right." You started to walk to the couch, where Sumo seemed to be waiting. "I'll do that." Connor returned to setting the plates in the fridge, as leftovers that are still untouched.
"Sleep well. I don't know when Hank will be coming home." You responded with an 'Okay' as your body hit the couch. Somehow, Sumo hopped up next to you on the cushions. You're sure this wasn't allowed by Hank's terms, but you would let it slide this time. Anyways, you did need a pillow.A movement near you woke you up. You began to sit up to see what it was. Confusion struck you as you saw the familiar clothes of Hank.
"Wha...?" You yawned, now sitting up. He grinned slightly, eyes still fixated on the television ahead of him.
"You wake up just as I sit down, huh?" He mumbled. "Wanted to watch the game when I got home from work, y'know?"
"Oh." Your hand found itself in Sumo's fluffy coat once again. Hank noticed this.
"He really seems to like you. Didn't even come over to greet me at the door. Just kept sleepin' with you." He spoke, watching the Saint Bernard peacefully sleep. That made you smile. Hank returned to watching his...well, whatever it was. A few quiet moments were spent throughout the home.
"Now tell me." Hank turned to you. "Why the hell are you wearing my clothes?" You quickly looked down at the grey hoodie.
"Wait, these are yours?" You asked in shock. Hank nodded sharply, with a stern expression.
"Connor!" You yelled, startling Sumo next to you. You found him off in a corner standing completely still. He came to life at your call.
"Yes?" He asked.
"You told me you would find some random clothes! These are Hank's!" Connor seemed confused at your plea.
"Yes. I found some of his clean clothes. Why are you asking?" His head tilted to the side.
"Ugh, god. I'm sorry...I'll just-" You stammered.
"No, it's alright for now. Just go find some other clothes next time. It makes me feel uncomfortable." Hank waved it off.
"Well how do you think I feel?" He laughed. Connor stepped forward slightly.
"I believe dinner will break the awkward tension." He suggested. Hank shrugged, standing up out of his seat.
"Sounds good." He spoke, before making his way to the dining room. You followed alongside Sumo to eat. Connor set two plates of F/F on the table in front of you. You and Hank ate in silence. Eventually, the silence had to stop.
"I apologize for interrupting-"
"What the fuck could you possibly be interrupting?" Hank asked jokingly. He remained silent.
"We weren't talking at all. You can continue." You smiled at the slightly confused expression on his face. He nodded.
"To continue our investigation to solve the secret behind your incident, I think it would be beneficial to return to the house we found you in. It may bring back, if not all, some of your memories." Connor looked between you and the police Lieutenant for a response. Hank looked at you and shrugged.
"O...Okay, that sounds fine." You hesitantly responded. When you were in that house, all you could process was fear. Even in the presence of these knuckleheads, you still felt like someone was waiting for you. Waiting for the perfect moment.
"It makes sense. For once I can agree with you, Connor." Hank gave a half-smile towards the Android. Connor continued standing in place, doubtfully showing an accomplished look on his face. As you were about to finish eating, Hank spoke up once again.
"Also, about the meeting I had with Fowler..." He leaned back in his chair. "You're officially part of our case." Your eyebrow raised in confusion.
"What was your case in the first place?" You cleaned up your spot after you had your final mouthful of your F/F. Hank silently looked over to Connor.
"You'd explain it better." He justified himself.
"We're investigating deviants. In fact, deviants are the reason why I was created." Connor began. You nodded slowly, before realizing you had no clue as to what a deviant was.
"What's a...deviant?" Your voice came out in a confused tone. He was quick to respond.
"A deviant is an Android that has deviated from it's original programming. Androids were programmed to emulate human emotions, but deviants start to feel human emotions. They are not supposed to." Connor explained in a serious voice.
"Hm." Hank began to place his dishes in the now clean sink. He paused for a split second, staring down into it.
"Connor, what the hell did you do?" He asked in disbelief. Connor's head turned slightly to see his shocked expression.
"I cleaned your pile of dirty dishes, while Y/N was taking a bath." He answered. "It is better for humans to live in a clean environment." Hank nodded slowly, starting a new pile of dishes. As you started to clean the dishes (which Hank neglected to do), you made conversation with the Android, who was currently standing as stiff as a board.
"Have you ever had to deal with deviants?" You asked. Connor nodded.
"An android threatened to jump off a roof with a little girl a few months ago, in August." Your heart stopped for a second, as you paused your cleaning. "I was successful in saving her."
"That must've been terrifying." You spoke breathlessly. There was momentary silence.
"Yes. The child was very scared." Connor replied, now watching over you. Oh. Androids, not feeling emotion and what not. He had just told you that, right? You continued washing the plates, surrounded by the unfamiliar but calming feeling of him watching over you. You felt safe around him.
"Lieutenant Anderson and I also investigated a crime scene where an Android killed his owner. We have the deviant locked up in the station now." Connor continued, his alluring voice spoke next to your ear. It sent a shiver down your spine. You continued to wash the dishes to keep him from noticing any discomfort. ...Was it discomforting?
"Currently, we're on the search for an AX400 model that reportedly assaulted it's owner, and ran away with the owner's child." You finished scrubbing the final plate and turned around, leaving you only inches away from the Android.
"That- ...doesn't sound too good." Your voice caught in your throat. What was this feeling? You felt your heart beat pick up significantly.
"It isn't. But I always accomplish my mission." Connor seemed conflicted.
"Are you alright?" You asked. His eyes trailed off to the side.
"...Yes." His answer came out sharp. Your lips parted slightly, about to speak. Loud footsteps broke the two of you out of your 'conversation'.
"Goddamn, you guys are making me sick with every passing second." Hank shoved Connor away from you. He caught his balance quickly, while still staring at the floor. He slowly looked up to the Lieutenant.
"I apologize, Lieutenant." Hank rolled his eyes.
"Yeah. Now do me a favor and stop acting so lovey-dovey around each other." He laughed for a second, before grabbing something from the fridge and turning back around towards the living room.
"I'm sorry," Connor justified himself. "but I do not understand." A shy smile creeped onto your lips while Hank continued to laugh. Her back faced towards the sink, as she turned around to speak with me. I met with her dazzling E/C eyes. She seemed to stare into mine frequently while we were together. She acted surprised at how close I was to her. Was I too close? Maybe I should step back a foot. Her heart beat was accelerating. Was this good or bad?
"Are you alright?" Her sweet voice cautiously asked. I stared into the corner, battling my thoughts. Her H/C hair was still slightly wet and tangled from her bath.
"...Yes." I responded sharply. I didn't mean to, I didn't want to make her feel uncomfortable or upset. ...Why was I so worried about her? No, I can't feel. I'm a machine. ...I suppose making sure she feels safe would help our new case. Y/N almost spoke, before Hank pushed us apart. I resisted the urge to scramble back to her side. I am not a deviant.//SOFTWARE INSTABILITY//
Oh boy, things are starting to pick up between you two!
Okay I'll be honest here that last part completely came out of left field. I didn't plan it at all, I just somehow thought of it. I hope it turned out good!?
Until next time!
