Chapter 22

I woke up in the middle of the night feeling anxious, I turned my body and pulled the covers over me. Dante scooted over and wrapped his arms around my waist, pulling me to his chest.

I sighed against his chest and closed my eyes to sleep, but his phone went off.

He sat up groggily and rubbed his eyes, "what time is it" he groaned. The lamp light came on and I sat up too, tying my hair up.

"Hello" He said, his voice deep and obviously tired. His face morphed into one of confusion and then shock, "fuck, slide right now" he said quickly and then hanging up.

He sat up and pulled on a pair of sweatpants, "Babe, what happened?" I asked. "It's Jayda, she's gone" he replied. "Kai is coming over right now" he continued.

I felt a tug at my heart.

"Gone?" I asked, confusion evident in my voice. "I'll explain downstairs, come on" He said grabbing my hand softly and pulling me off of the bed.

I wrapped a silk black robe around my body and followed him down the steps.

"Explain" I said the moment my feet touched the lower floor.

"Kai said after dinner they both drove to his house and chilled for a bit when she left around 1 am. He got a call 2 hours later, 5 minutes ago. Jayda was screaming and said someone was in her apartment trying to take her. Kai drove there as fast as he looked could, and... she was gone. Only a small puddle of blood" he said, rubbing my back.

I felt a tear slide down my check.

The moment I met Jayda we vandalized houses together, possibly her effort of making me feel better. Through out the 4 months I've been here, she's been my best friend.

I can't loose her.

"Think it was-"

"Vladimir, Yea" He finished.

I sighed and put my head in my hands, Dante grabbed the bottom of my chair and pulled me over to him. Wrapping an arm around me and kissing the top of my head.

I heard the door open and shut roughly, Kai ran in. He looked frustrated, disturbed, and over all very sad.

"Hey, we're gonna find her" Dante said as we stood up and embraced him in a hug.

We called Lilian, Jay, and Jason over to figure it out.

Lilian helped decode the time she was taken and that her phone was smashed approximately 15 minutes after her kidnapping.

They were headed south towards one of Javier's main bases so it was safe to rule out that is was them that took her. Most likely to irritate Kai and have him launch and immediate attack out of anger which could've been successful.

Dante and Jay had to strap him down to stop him from leaving after Jayda.

We couldn't just go and save her without knowing what there setup and defense systems were.

"Now what?" Lilian asked, rubbing her temples.

Then it hit me at once, my plan.

"I've uh, got an idea" I dragged out. They all looked up at me in an instant.

15 minutes later

"Fuck No!" Dante yelled out, slamming his fists on the table.

"Dante, it's the only option we have. With Jayda taken it speeds up all of our attack plans, we need to re-evaluate." I said back.

"It's, not that bad an idea Boss" Lilian spoke up, brushing her raven colored hair from her face.

"Think about it, Stella goes to Javier and says she was betrayed and wants to join his side. It's a guarantee she can join him because only she has memorized codes and passwords to a agreements in numerous things that are blocking him off from turning New York into a war site with who knows who else. She infiltrates them and sends back information to us, etcetera" she continued.

"Either way Dante, I'm gonna kill him" I said.

"And get Jayda" Kai chimes in. We all nodded our head.

Dante clenched his fists and his jaw tightened, "if you haven't forgotten Stella, you got shot" He said. "They can't shoot me even if they wanted to, I have access to things they don't" I replied back.

Dante groaned aloud and hit his head on the table, cursing himself.

7 days later

I woke up to Dante snoring softly, the window was open and I watched as snow fell softly onto the ground outside.

With my powers of persuasion, we confirmed my plan would be put into action in 4 days from now. I know it hurt Dante, but we didn't have much a choice.

I was irritated I couldn't go sooner, who knows what they were doing to Jayda. But since all of our plans shifted because of her kidnapping, we needed time to prep and make sure I had a solid plan.

Dante refused to let me go on my own, so Jason was coming with me.

It's Christmas Day and I'm going to get through this holiday and keep my head up.

Unfortunately, the rest of Dante's family wasn't coming anymore. The Javier business made it possibly dangerous for them to come so they've decided they'll slide later on when all of this has hopefully been fixed.

We've transported Josie and Mia to one of Dante's houses a few blocks away for protection.

It's hard to enjoy Christmas when one of your friends have been kidnapped. But I have faith that we will get her back

And I'll be able to sleep nicely knowing that the two scummiest people on the face of the planet have been minimized to an endless pit of nothing.

But besides that, Kai has been drinking heavily, avoiding everyone and everything. Me and Dante made sure that Kai stayed here Incase he decided to do something un-rational.

I went into the bathroom and took a quick shower and brushed my teeth.

I went downstairs into the living room to see Jason, Jay, Kai, and Lilian all piled onto the couches fast asleep.

They came over the previous night and stayed because they were all too drunk to go home.

I went back upstairs to the room to see Dante exiting the bathroom, his sweatpants hung loosely on his waist and his shirt was missing from his muscular chest.

He looked at me and smirked, "it's not polite to stare amore" he purred, walking to me and wrapping his arms around my waist.

I felt my heart flutter and I smiled against his chest, looking up and kissing him on his lips

We enjoyed Christmas unwrapping presents and spending time together.

We all felt the absence of Jayda, Kai the most. But we partied on and talked and just chilled together.

In less than a week, I'd face my demons head on.

And I was proud to say that I was prepared
