Dante and I looped behind the building, and up a fire escape. He kicked the glass window in a pulled me carefully so that I didn't step on any shards. There was little fighting inside, it being on the main floor if any. And of course, no police sirens blaring either.
"Where would Javier be?" he asked in a whisper, I looked the other way in thought before I heard foot steps. At the same time we snapped our heads to the direction of noise, pulling our guns out and setting ourselves in stance.
I watched in anticipation as a shadow rounded a corner, and Jason stepped from behind the shelter of the wall. I sighed in relief and slid it back into the waistband of my jeans. "Jesus, you scared me. What are you doing here?" I asked breathlessly.
Dante turned to face me in his towering height, a flat expression on his face. "Footsteps scare you but fighting criminals doesn't?" he asked, an eyebrow arched.
I smiled and slapped him playfully, forgetting the situation we were in for a moment.
"I couldn't just leave you, but Teddy is on his way back to our side in a helicopter right now" he answered. "Have you seen Vladimir anywhere?" I asked.
"Right here", a vile and taunt voice said behind me. I froze, before successfully whipping around and meeting his eyes. He was covered in blood, more people behind him, outnumbering us 3.
His smile faltered when he looked up at Dante, I looked over to him to see cold glints in his eyes. The veins in his arms popping, his knuckles clenched and turning white.
"Drop your guns, or she dies" he spat, pulling out another control to the chip in my neck. My eyes widened in fear, "But, I-"
"Come on, you're a smart girl. Surely you'd know I'd carry two" he sneered, his brown eyes turning up with the smile.
"Don't do it Dante" I muttered as he caught on to what he was talking about. Jason was waiting orders, not knowing what to do.
He looked down at me, debate in his irises, "Please" I said, stepping in front of him. He looked to the side, not meeting my eyes, before dropping his gun and sliding it over. Jason followed as my hands dropped to my sides.
"Good" he chuckled, before someone behind me pushed me to him and locked me in the group of men. Dante lurched forwards before someone put a gun to the back of his head, the same happening to Jason. They were both tied in chains before he spoke again, the words striking fear into every inch of my body.
"Hold her down" Vladimir ordered, when my arms were pushed back and I was pinned against the stone floor.
Vladimir kneeled down and pulled a switchblade, waving it by my neck. "This is the last thing you get to see, enjoy the show" He said to Dante. A low growl emitted from the back of his throat, "I swear to fucking god, if you lay your hands on her you'll regret the moment you even heard her name" Dante warned, his voice tight.
Vladimir tensed at him, before shaking his head and continuing. As he lifted my shirt, memories came coursing through me. The pain and suffering seemed to wrap around my head tightly. I started to hyperventilate, tears streaking my cheeks.
Vladimir seemed to enjoy the view as he proceeded. "I think it's time I mark you officially" he whispered, milliseconds before pressing the cool blade to my stomach and cutting.
It took me a moment to feel anything, when suddenly it felt like hot coals were being pressed to my stomach. I stuttered, the pain being too much and restricting me from saying anything.
Then, my screams became so loud I couldn't hear anything else. "Dante! please help me!!" I sobbed loudly, as he cut into my stomach further. My instinctual thrashing was restricted by cold and unforgiving hands, making it ten times worse.
