Millie Brown was turning seventeen this summer. That meant she had to get a day job. Her dad, David Brown, had given her the option of being a volunteer at schools, working in a fast food restaurant or working in her favorite comic book store since she was four. It's obvious which option Millie chose. Her uncle was the owner of the store so it was pretty easy to get the job. Millie only worked on Tuesdays to Thursday, which satisfied her and her dad. She still needed time to ace her exams. She wanted to get into a blue ivy league university.
Today was Wednesday and Millie was working up at the front cashier area. She didn't like sitting up front, as much as she liked unloading the new comic books at the back of the store.
She blew a strand of her hair out of her face. She sipped some of her lemonade and sat there, super bore out of her mind. It was only her second week of working at her uncle Murray's shop.
Then, the bell of the shop door rang. It shocked Millie so much, she almost fell out of her spining chair.
"Caleb! I told you we were going to meet up with Wyatt after this, even if you like him or not." A curly raven colored haired boy said throwing his hands up in the air.
"Hey Murray! You got any new comics?" another curly haired boy asked.
They all walked up to the counter, They couldn't see Millie because when she was sitting she was too hard to see.
She popped up.
"Hi. I'm Millie."
"Whoa. Murray got a girl to work at this dump?" Caleb said staring at the girl.
"It's not a dump. It happens to be my favorite comic book store in Hawkins." She huffed.
"Really? We come here all the time. I've never seen you around."
"Obviously she's new Finn . Duh."
She stared at the one called Finn. She was fascinated by his looks. She peered at him from behind her rimmed glasses.
"I'm Murray's niece. You are?"
"Oh. I'm Gaten, this is Noah, that's Caleb and This is Finn."
Finn.
Nice name.
"Can I help you guys with anything?"
"Do you have any new comics?" Noah asked.
"Don't ask her that. She's probably one of the girls who dress up like Harley Quinn for Halloween without actually reading the comics she's from." Caleb said snorting.
Millie Frowned.
"Come on guys don't be me-" Finn said before he was interrupted by Millie.
"Actually, Harley Quinn didn't start in the comics. She was first introduced on the tv show Batman." She said confidently.
"Oooo burn." Gaten said making exploding motions with his hands in front of Caleb.
"Anyways, You Guys can go to the back. There's a bunch of new comics there."
"Whoa. Are you serious? Your letting us go?" Noah said gasping.
Millie nodded. "Sure, why not? I trust you guys."
All the boys left but one.
"Hey Millie?"
She turned to Finn. "Hmm?"
"I was wondering if you'd like to go out sometime?"
She smiled. "I'd love to."
