★ Jane clutched the letter close to her heart as she turned the corner. She had auditioned for a movie set during world war two and actually got the part. She had only been in three movies before this one, they told her this could be her big break, it was a chance she was willing to take. She had promised her mom one thing before she died, and that was to follow her dream no matter what, and here she was.
She walked into the bustling stage with actors being powdered and memorizing there lines, she took a look down at the letter in her hand. She had been asked to personally meet the director and meet him.
She walked to the room with the letters DIRECTOR ★ bold on top the the door. It was pretty noticeable, Jane didn't think anyone could miss it. She knocked three times on the door.
"Talissa?"
"Um.. no, it's Jane.."
"Jane the assistant?Jane the stylist? Jane Fonda? Jane Wagner? Which Jane are you?"
"Uh, I'm.. Jane Hopper, here for a live audition..?"
"Ah! Yeah right. Come in."
The door seemed to beep and open on it's own like it was pass code protected, which it probably was.
she cautiously took a step into the darkly tinted dressing room. she spotted records by mac Demarco and more. She noticed that there were a few vases dotted around the room with various flowers.
Then she saw a wall of electric guitars and it fascinated her.
"Over here."
She quickly turned around to see a tall lanky guy with black curly hair grinning behind her. "Do you like them?"
"Wh-What?"
"The guitars. Do you like them?"
"Uh.. actually yeah. My dad used to own a record shop and he had lots of electric and acoustic guitars."
"Really? What was the store called?"
"It was Jim's Hits."
"Woah, really? That was the record shop I used to go to all the time, it inspired me to start my band Calpurnia. Why'd he close down the shop anyways?"
"..."
".. You don't have to answer if you don't want too.."
"It's okay... My mom got sick and we had to sell the shop to pay for hospital debts."
"Is she getting better?"
Jane let out a dry laugh. "Everyone said she'd get better. She passed three years ago. We're still drowning in debt though, it must be nice to have money."
She let a tear slip. "I'm sorry. Can we continue the audition?" She asked.
"Y-Yeah, yeah, sorry. Which part are you auditioning for?" He seemed to be engrossed in her story for way too long.
"'I'm auditioning for the part of Kathleen Anderson.."
"Okay cool. I'm going to be doing the part of her love interest, William Fields."
Jane slightly laughed and turned a pale shade of a rosy pink. Mike chuckled when he saw her reaction.
They practiced a few lines together and then took a quick water break.
"You were pretty good."
"T-thanks."
"I think that was enough for today, okay?"
"Yeah.."
Jane was about to head out of the door when she was stopped by Mike.
"You got the part by the way." He winked as he turned around back to his computer.
Jane was wide eyed as she walked out the door. She then got a text on her phone.
Unknown: Hey its Mike. I might have to make some adjustments to the script. Check it out.
Jane was curious as to what he did. She opened up the script file and started reading where it said Mike had updated last. He rewrote the whole ending scene of the movie.
(Italics is the movie script.)
Kathleen whispers in William's ear gently and lightly.
"I thought of you ever step of the way."
William looks into her eyes and whispers back,
"I knew you would.. I-I love you."
Kathleen looked shocked. She calmed down a little bit.
"I-I love you too. Like a lot.."
They shared a sweet kiss.
Crap. They shared a kissing scene. That was something that would make Jane super anxious and uneasy.. with a hint of excitement.
She felt a pair of eyes around her and turned around. She saw Mike smirking and waving to her. She blushed once more and awkwardly waved.
They were just two crazy young adults starting their lives..
possibly together?
