"I'm worried about you..." Gilbert trailed off, holding Samantha's hands tightly in his. "We were just apart for so long. And, now, I'm leaving you again."

"Hey," Samantha spoke softly, looking into his eyes thoughtfully. "I will be perfectly alright, Gil. I only want you to be happy."

Sighing, Gilbert shook his head, "I just don't want to hurt you any more than I already have-"

Cutting him off, Samantha lifted her hand to his cheek. Smiling softly, she spoke, "You could never hurt me."

Signaling its departure, the ship sounded its booming horn - Samantha quickly turning to Gilbert and smiling, "Go, Gilbert. Travel the world and live your life. I promise, I'll be right here when you come back."

Hesitating, Gilbert nodded, pulling Samantha close and placing his lips on her forehead - one last kiss before he went off. When he pulled away, a smile tugged at the ends of his lips as he spoke, "Ill be back soon."

"Will you write?" Samantha couldn't help but ask as she watched him walk the plank up to the ship.

Turning his head over his shoulder, the boy glanced back at her, smirking and replying, "Every chance I get."

Beaming, Samantha waved, "Goodbye!"

As the boy stepped onto the ship, he watched as Samantha Darling grew farther and farther away. Cupping his hands over his mouth, Gilbert shouted, "I love you!"

Slightly gasping in shock, Samantha's heart raced as a smile formed on her pink lips, "I love you too!"

The two lovers then watched each other grow farther apart until they were completely out of sight. Samantha was happy for Gilbert, and she knew that the world deserved to be explored by him.

After watching him go, Samantha sighed and turned back to her carriage - where she would return to her home town in Avonlea. And, everyday, she would wait for Gilbert Blythe to return.

It had been two and a half months since the last time the two had seen each other. Of course, Samantha missed him, but she hadn't yet felt sadness. For, she remembered that he would come back for her.

"Samantha!" shouted Diana, causing the girl to shoot up in fright. "Hurry up! We're going to be late for school!"

Today was Samantha's first day back at school in Avonlea since spent all last year in London. Slightly nervous, Samantha tried her best to ignore the fear that ate at her inside.

Shaking out of her thoughts, Samantha stood from her seated position, grabbing her coat and wrapping herself into it.

As the blonde-haired beauty raced down the stairs, Mrs.Barry nearly dropped her tea. Scolding up Samantha, Mrs.Barry spoke, "For good heavens, child. You mustn't run in this house."
