Chapter Ten: First Date
Jessica's Point of view
You'd expect me to be less quiet around him, since I usually am . But it was different I was nervous the whole car ride there. He had the music turned to a soft background, so we could talk, but my vocal cords weren't working. It was like my throat was drying up, like that time I went to Arizona. Why was I being a scardy-cat? The silence in the car was thick, but surprisingly not awkward.
After of while of silence Roman couldn't take it anymore. So he cleared his throat and looked over to me as he stopped the car at the red light. "Are you okay? You seem off," his voice was filled with tenderness, I think he thought I was uncomfortable with the date.
I turned my torso to him and then smiled lightly. When I saw his facial expression, doubt was written all over it. That broke my heart. I bit my lip and gave him a nervous smile. "I'm fine, I'm just nervous. If you saw tonights webcast you'd know why, my past relationships always ended badly. I mean I always had to pretend to be something I wasn't," He shushed me before I could continue. He places his hand on the back of my head and leaned his forehead onto mine.
"I didn't see, but I'm not those other guys, and you don't have to pretend to be something your not, because I like you just the way you are. I like your curly messy brown hair, and your awkward corky ways. You're more than I could ever ask for, all I need from you is for to be you Jessica." He pressed his lips onto mine gently and then breath in softly, pulling away. "Can you do that?"
I felt a smile stretch across my face and I nodded. "I can do that." I heard a light tapping on the window next to me and I look to see what it was, it was a man, not a big one but a small guy, not threatening at all. I rolled down my window and he smiled friendly.
"The light changed green awhile ago, so next time it turns green I advise you to go." I nod and smiled at him.
"Sorry, we'll go this time." Roman told him. I just say back and looked at the two while they had their brief conversation.
As promised on the next green light Roman had went, and this time when the car started there wasn't much silence we were laughing and actually had a good time. The rest of the car ride to wherever we where going was fun. When the song 'What Makes You Beautiful' by One Direction came on he told me to shush and he sang it to me. I couldn't help but giggle throughout the process.
Finally he stopped his car in the parking lot of a pumpkin patch. This is actually surprising, if we are going on a date at a pumpkin patch, I totally shouldn't have wore white or a dress. "Pumpkins?" I questioned as he opened my door for me.
"Don't worry you are going to love it. I mean if you don't want to go... We don't have to and I can take you home right now. " His smile was smug because he knew I wouldn't want to go. I stepped out the car when he held his hand out.
"It's not that; it's just I wore heels and mud doesn't mix with bright white shoes." I told him as I looked down at my feet, I felt him follow my gaze and then I look back up. Somehow his smile was even more smug.
"I can fix that," he told me softly as he went in the back of the car and popped the hood. When he came back to me after shuffling through whatever was back there he came back with a shoe box. "Sit down," he ordered and I did. He knelt down on his knee and opened the box revealing a pair of black and white vans. "Now my princess," he said holding up the right one, "let's see it the shoe fits." Why on earth did this feel like a Cinderella moment? He took off my right shoe and set it beside me on the floor of the car. Hopefully my foot didn't stink. He looked up at me and smiled.
"I can put it on," I told him with a smile and he shook his head taking hold to my foot and putting the shoe on.
"A perfect fit." He chide smiling, with a laugh. "Will you do me the honor of marrying me?" I rolled me eyes and scoffed.
