The next day, I walked up to the building and sighed. I opened the door and walked up to the receptionist. I told her all the information she asked and then sat in the waiting area, waiting for the man to call me back to his office. I fidgeted with my bag on my shoulder and waited. I heard my name being called. I looked up to see the man, the lawyer who was on my brother's case, Juraj Mendi. He smiled weakly at me, motioning for me to follow him.
I followed him to his office. As I sat down, he unbuttoned his suit jacket and put it on the back of his chair. He sat down and cracked his knuckles before looking at me.
"If I didn't know any better, I would think you're preparing for a fight." I said after a brief moment of silence. He smiled while nodding.
"Well, depending on why you're here, I think I am."
"I want to help get my brother freed from prison."
"I knew it." he stood up and closed his door. Then he looked at me. "How do you suggest we do that, Victoria?"
"I went around and collected evidence and I-"
"You what?" he asked walking back to his seat.
"I collected evidence." he rubbed his temples.
"It's not even 10 o'clock in the fucking morning and you gave me a migraine already."
"Juraj, he's innocent and you know it."
"Yeah, but I couldn't prove it. Unless you can show me a fucking video where it's pointing to the killer there is no way, you can free him."
"I have a video. It shows the killer."
"Do you know who the killer is?"
"No." he chuckled. "That shouldn't matter right? The video shows Danny leaving Vanessa alone and then the man goes in a room with her."
"What video, Victoria?" I pulled the box out of my bag then handed it to him. He raised his eyebrow.
"Look, I know it's," I sighed. "It's a lot, but Danny is my brother and I just want help in any way I can." Juraj looked out the window.
"Let me watch it." he mumbled. He put it in his computer and sat quietly. I looked down at my hands as he watched the video. "Victoria?" I looked up at him. "This video was chopped and screwed." I stood up and walked over to the computer. I stared at the video for a moment. He pointed to the time stamp. I watched as it went from 12:04:49 to 12:35:09 in less than a second. This was while Danny and Vanessa were in the hallway, before he kissed her and left. So it was no reason to skip in the video. Or was it?"Where'd you get this from?" Juraj asked interrupting my thoughts.
"The owner of Willington Manor's daughter." he sighed.
"We can't take this court."
"Obviously." I said sitting back down on in the chair. "Why would she do that? And why didn't we notice it yesterday?" I mumbled."Maybe she was trying to hide something."
"What possibly could they want to hide?" I asked."I don't know. Why don't you ask them yourself?" he stood up. "Look, I'm all for helping you free an innocent man, but unless you concrete evidence, I can't help you."
"I thought you're supposed to look for that too." he frowned.
"I'm a lawyer. My only job is to make sure he doesn't go to prison."
"You failed at that didn't you." Juraj chuckled.
"Look, if you want more help, you need the help of a detective or something." I sighed.
"Thanks Juraj."
"It's my pleasure." I grabbed my things and headed out the door. But he stopped me. I looked at him.
"What?" I asked.
"Why aren't you in school?" he asked with a raised eyebrow.
