"This is your second term senior year right?" Mr. Kim, my therapist asks. I nod in response.
"How is your Glaucoma?" He asks. I take off my sunglasses and just stare at him.
"What do you think?" I deadpan then shrug. He sighs while nodding.
"Well, that will be all for today." He says and smiles. "Bye, Mr. Kim." I wave then left out the room.
A lady, with brown skin and eyes the same as mine and curly black hair pinned back, greets me. "How was your session?"
"It was- normal, mom," I say, smiling. I didn't want to tell her that I hate going to the therapist because I know she tries her hardest to make me as healthy as possible. I have nothing against Mr. Kim, in fact, he is like my father figure. I just hate therapy in general.
"That's great, I'm going to make your favorite for dinner." She smiles at me.
"Can I invite Kendra?" I flutter my eyes at her and smile causing us both to laugh. She agrees as we both enter the car.

"Toya, the doorbell is ringing!" My mom yelled at me. "Got it!" I slowly make my way to the door with my cane to see a short girl, with black hair and caramel skin, facing me back at me.
"Best friend!" Kendra hugs me and continues. " I haven't seen you in forever."
Kendra is black and from the states but is part Korean from her mom's side like me. I'm pretty sure the reason why we are so close because we understand each other on a different level than anyone else at our school.
I squint at her. "I just saw you yesterday at school."
"Like I said, forever." She deadpans, making both of us laugh. Kendra starts to talk but my mom calls us for dinner.
During dinner, my mom was tired and went to her room, so Kendra and I started talking about school. "I heard a kid is switching to our class tomorrow," Kendra says, her voice sounding muffled, I assume she is eating with her mouth full. I hum in response, not really caring about the subject. "Toya, why aren't you interested, it could be a boy." She whines.
"Wow, a boy!" I say, sarcastically. She hits me, "I'm serious." She deadpans.
"You know I don't worry about boys since." I start to drag on my sentence. She hugs me, "Yeah, I know and I'm still sorry." Kendra is the only one that knows about accident besides my mom. She hasn't told anyone neither, which is one of the many reasons I trust her so much.
I hug her back and say, "Don't be sorry, it's not your fault it, it's mine." I mumble the last part not thinking she can hear me. I was proved wrong when I felt multiple sharp pains shoot through my shoulder. "It's not your fault, don't say that again." She says, still hitting me.
"Okay! You can't hit a person that's blind." I smile at her, hearing her scoff in response.
"Anyways, can I stay here tonight?"
"You don't have to ask," I answer her, grabbing my plate to wash up the dishes.
"Let me help." She starts but I decline her offer. As I start walking, my cane hits the counter making me trip over my own feet. I wince, while the plates hit the floor.
"How bad is your vision now?" Kendra asks with a voice laced with concern as she runs towards me.
"I am down to 60 percent of my vision left," I say with a groan.
"Ok, let me help you to your room." She grabs my arms. I yank it back in frustration, "I got it myself, don't pity me".
"I'm not pitying, it's called caring." She states, a matter of factly, then continues to help me up and guides me to my room.
