"Ashley please cancel my plans for these coming three days," I told my secretary as I left my office and headed to the elevator. I waited for the dumb thing to reach the 39th floor for what seemed like ages. Finally, it dinged and the doors opened.
I stepped in and clicked the garage floor. There were a few stops on the way. Never did I think about a private elevator considering I was in my office by 6 in the morning and out by 2. I didn't take into consideration when people had lunch, I didn't really take into consideration anything if I'm being honest.
The door opened and I stepped out into the cold environment. I took my keys out of my purse and headed to my car to open it. Once that was done, I stepped in, turned the engine on and left.
My phone ringed and I answered it. "Miss your dress has been delivered, I have set it in your room," Mary told me. "Thank you mary, you may take the rest of the week off," I told her and hung up. I liked her help, she was a ball of energy. In less than 10 minutes I arrived home.
Unlike my family, I found it calming to live in a big city. I parked and headed to the elevator where I entered my pin to take me to my pent. It came to a stop, and I stepped out and headed to the kitchen first. I smelled what Mary had baked and hummed in bliss.
I then headed to my room to change into comfortable clothes. As usual, I wasn't excited to attend an event where I would have to carry a fake smile all the time. Not to mention the old men undressing me with their beady eyes. I headed back down the stairs and decide to eat. I poured myself a glass of wine and served myself some food.
I groaned as Marys Lasagna melted in my mouth and smiled. Once I was finished, I washed my dishes and headed upstairs to get ready for the charity meeting. I headed to my bathroom and decided to have a comfortable shower.
I heard my phone ring and told Alexa to answer. "How may I help you?" I asked in a bored tone. "Nice to hear your voice as well" Adidas voice rang. "You kind of caught me in the shower" I respond to her sarcasm and rinse my hair. "Are you getting ready for the ball?" She asked.
"Yes, I am". "Tell me how it goes," she says. I'm scrubbing my body as I hear her say so. "You're not going?" I asked. "No, I have a lot of work," she says and I roll my eyes at that. "You work more than me, and that says something," I tell her. "About that, I heard you're going to Europe tomorrow," she said.
"I'm actually going after the charity is done," I tell her and start to condition my hair. "When are you sleeping then?" She asks. I laugh at that and answer her with the same question. Were both laughing at the moment. I turn the shower off and wrap a towel around me. "We should talk later on," she says.
"I agree with that, especially after tomorrow. If things go as planned I might want you to settle a project for me" I tell her. She seemed to think about it and is about to say something, but I cut her off. "I don't want to tire myself by having to work at both the companies". "Okay," she says and I hang up.
I head into my room and place everything I'm going to wear this afternoon on my bed and walk to the bathroom again to dry my hair up. It takes me at least two hours to dry it and about one more hour for my makeup. I then head out and dress up.
I look at my clock to see its 9:30 already. "Fashionably late" I whisper already imagining my parents protesting my time arrival. I head downstairs and to the elevator to go to the basement. "You should have gotten a limo" I mimic in my father's voice. I go to one of my cars and turn it on and drive off.
I park and once I step out paparazzi flash me. "Ms. Ridalfo why are you coming in your own car?" One says. "We hear you're going to France tomorrow," another says. I walk to the red carpet and start to walk down it stoping at least 5 times to pose.
I finally get in the building and head down the steps, with everyone's attention on me. I smile as I finally meet the end of the steps and head over to my seat. There in the middle of an auction. On the stage is an older man showcasing a beautiful painting, that for some reason catches my attention.
"$1,500,000," he says and I watch in amusement as a young man who's about my age raises his number and bets higher. I smile at that and raise mine and offer more. He looks at me and grins and doubles my amount. Sounds of shock and murmurs fill the air as I smile at him.
"3.3 million," the auctioneer says. I nod at the man who just smirks at me and bows his head. I chuckle at that and sit down. The next action goes on and I take the opportunity to sneak glances at the gorgeous man seated away from me. The auction comes to an end and its time for the mingling.
We stand up and head to the area that's supposed to be a ballroom. It's gorgeous, to say the least. I walk over to my parents once I spot them and kiss them slightly. "I saw your little show," my father says. "What, I liked the painting," I tell him and hear my mom chuckle. "I'm sure you like the art," she says and I catch on.
I look at her and laugh at that. "Wheres Victor?" I ask. "He's somewhere around here," my father says and I nod and excuse myself. I start to walk around and get stopped by an older man who I recognize to be American Express's CEO. "Hello Ms. Ridalfo," he says. "Hello".
"We need to talk business," he says. I smile at that and shake my head and laugh at that. It gets a few staring looks around us. "I have no business with you," I tell him and am about to walk away from him when I'm suddenly grabbed by my wrist.
I turn to see Mr. ChioKopsci holding my wrist tightly. I stand at my full height, towering him. "Listen here bald man, I have no business with you, nor will I. Now I suggest you let me go before an accident happens. You should know what I'm capable of. We wouldn't want the press to know what happened not too long ago, what was it 4 months ago?" I warn.
He lets go of my arm and backs away from me with a frightened face. I run my hands down my dress and smile at him. "Nice talking with you," I tell him and move away from One Shocked ChioKopsci. I head over to a man dressed in a black Armani suit and tap him. The smile on my face falters as I spot my brother already talking to him.
"Hello Ms. Ridalfo," he says. I smile at the man and greet him as well. "How have you been sir?" I ask. "I'm doing fine, you should talk to my daughter though," he says. "Adira and I spoke before this," I tell him. "Good". "I was just talking to your brother about an investment in Europe," Mr. Addington told me. I looked at my brother and smiled falsely.
"Really?" I asked. He nods. "Oh I should get going," Mr. Addington says and we watch him leave. I look at my brother who looks as mad as I am. "You can't just steal business from me". "Well I would say the same," he says back. "By the way, I advise you to stay clear From Hugo," he tells me. "What are you talking about?" I ask confused.
"The guy you betted against". I perk my attention at that. "Thanks for letting me know our families aren't bound together anymore," he says as he steps to move away from me. Before he leaves, he stops next to me and whispers in my ear "good luck tomorrow". I stand there bubbling with anger. He would not get my business partners.
