Another night Alexander laid next to her, staring into the darkness. They came and removed his father from the room it was painful to watch as his mother clung to the bed crying her eyes out. It was even more painful because he couldn't comfort her since he was confined to the bed, luckily Anabella comforted her. As she cried he held Anabella crying into her dress, Alexander wiped his own tears as he mouthed a thank you to her. The passing of his father really was a tragedy for him, his father wasn't the best man, but he provided for his family and even though he cheated constantly Alexander was starting to believe he really loved his mother. He just wished he didn't have to go so soon, maybe a year more maybe a few days more. Just long enough that he could work things out with him, he had so many things he wished he could say, so many moments that could've gone differently. Their time ran out and now he's full of regret.

Anabella left the hospital getting a shower and to pack him a bag for the next few days. After much persuasion he got his mother to go home, she was under a lot of stress and it was visible on her face. She hadn't slept in days ad he needed her to get some rest. She insisted she would stay with him but he begged her to go home and his grandmother. Although it seemed Alexander took his father's death well he didn't. Any moment he was alone with Anabella he would break down, or he would be completely dazed. It felt so surreal to him, he couldn't believe his father was actually dead. He felt many emotions but guilt was the main one, he hated his father for most of his life and now he was gone he felt like a hole was in his chest. He was so deep in thought he didn't realize the stray tears rolling down his cheeks. He sucked down a sharp breath as his tears escaped him. Anabella hugged him tightly, she was awake from the time he woke up.

"It's going to be okay" she whispered in the dead of night, he buried his face in her bosom,

"Why do I feel so guilty?" he murmured,

"You don't have any reason to feel guilty, he loved you and you know deep down you loved your father too" he remained silent, as she kept him in her arms.

The following morning Alexander woke up to an empty bed, it was the first time he was alone in days. The feeling of loneliness spread across the room as he sat looking around the hospital room. He was frantic as he looked for her, she was nowhere to be found. The door swung open and she stood in the doorway with her bag thrown over her shoulder. She wore a long orange sundress and her hair was in a top knot, she looked naturally beautiful. Her pleasant aura entered the room and brought happiness to him, he almost felt lost without her there.

"Hey baby" she entered sitting on the bed next to him before giving him a peck on the cheek,

"Hey" a weak smile tugged at his emotionless face,

"I brought you something" she closed the door before retrieving it from her bag. She pulled out a styrofoam container and he looked at her awkwardly. Food from the outside was not allowed in the hospital, but she snuck it in for him. She opened the container and it was a stack of pancakes with strawberry slices and 'Alex' written in chocolate syrup, very similar to the ones he did for her. He chuckled his face brightening instantly,

"Thank you" he smiled a genuine smile this time, she took his hand in hers,

"You don't have to thank me" Anabella knew it wasn't easy dealing with death; let alone the death of a parent but she was going to be here to support him regardless. She fed him as they talked about the last few days, she went into detail about the car accident and how Jeremy tried to get him out the care. Alexander felt selfish since he didn't want any visitors he just needed some time, he needed to thank Jeremy for everything. She finished the last piece of strawberry when the door swung open, and his doctor entered,

"Well, Mr.Hunter you look as sprightly as ever" Dr. Jones who was monitoring Alexander's progress smiled at him. Dr. Jones looked like Santa Claus, and he seemed to always be smiling,

"I'm tired of being in this bed"

"As you should be," he said before he cocked an eyebrow at them, "And I do hope you know that's against the rules" he pointed at the container with his pen. Anabella scooped it up quickly,

"Its mine" she lied through her teeth giving him a quick smile,

"No worries, secrets safe with me" he winked before looking at the file, "Well I've got good news. You can leave today, your stitches are healing well, I checked them while you were asleep. I hope that wasn't a prob"

"Of course not" Alexander grinned at her and she shook her,

"Are you going to be taking care of him?" he asked Anabella, who looked at Alexander for the answer. He gave her a blank look,

"I guess I am" she smiled awkwardly,

"She is" Alexander chimed,

"Great. Well, I'll give you the list, he should be able to put pressure on the leg within a month. And I notified your mother she said she was on her way"

Alexander rolled his eyes, he wanted his mother not to worry about him. Anabella began to pack his belongings when the door opened and his mother pushed open the door with a wheelchair,

"Good afternoon" she greeted happily, her voice didn't match her face, she had deep-set bag and her eyes were red, she looked over at the space where victor's bed was located. She dragged her eyes from the spot. "How are you feeling?" she cupped his forehead as if she were checking for a fever,

"mum" he groaned, "I'm fine",

"Don't sass me, I am going to be taking care of you. You must get used to this" she put her hands on her hips pouting at him,

"Uhhhh, about that, Anabella is going to take care of me" the room went silent,

"Oh, I just-well I guess- if that's what you want" she mumbled grabbing her bag,

"I should let you two talk" Anabella eased from the room leaving them.

Alexander looked at his confused mother, his eyes didn't meet her gaze,

"I don't want you worrying about me" he kept looking at his outstretched leg,

"You're my son that's what I'm supposed to do"

"And what about you? Dad just died, I don't want to be a burden" Alexander confessed,

"Oh baby you'll never be a burden to me" she cupped his cheek, flicking away the stray tear which went down his cheek, "you're my son, and yes I lost your father, I still don't believe it real, I keep thinking it's a bad joke and he's going to come home tomorrow" she chuckled, "I realised we hardly spend time together, and I don't know much about you, I only met Anabella a few days ago. I don't want what happened with your father happen with you, I don't want to be out of your life" she whimpered,

"I'm not putting you out my life" she hugged her from the bed his arms around her waist,

"Alexander I just want to be apart of your life"

"And you will be, I promise. How about you take the morning shift and she takes the evening shift?" he looked up to his other's teary face, wiping her tears away, she rested her head in the palm of his hand,

"Thank you" she smiled closing her eyes before looking at him, he looked exactly like his father as he looked up to her with wonder in his eyes.
