Sapphire shakily reached out to carefully clutch the note in her palm. She recognised the handwriting all too well. The creases in the note unfurled and lengthened the paper. Steven and Pearl stood beside her, watching intently, but respectively. Sapphire saw Steven lean in as she lifted her bangs to read the note with precision.
"SAPPHIRE-" Sapphire read aloud.
"YOU WERE RIGHT... I
NEED SOME
TIME TO THINK
SO I AM
RUNNING
AWAY.
-RUBY"
Sapphire felt tears well in her eye thinking about Ruby's scribbly but cute handwriting.
"This can't be happening," she whispered, half to herself. She spotted the scribbled out love-heart Ruby had messily erased on the sheet. "Oh Ruby..." she choked, shutting her eyelid and not wanting to see anymore. She welcomed her tears. Letting loose her hair, she raised her head.
"I'm so sorry. You left before I could take back all the horrible things I said to you," she sobbed quietly and pressed her palm to her cheek. The burden lifted from her hands from Pearl. She inspected it and re-read it swiftly, looking nervous as Sapphire stared at her helplessly, not even bothering to wipe the tears off her face."W-Well," Pearl began, "Amethyst was with her, right?" She smiled at Sapphire. "Maybe she knows where she went."
Suddenly a chorus of false drone noises interrupted the atmosphere and Sapphire saw it sourcing from the television Steven often used. Sapphire and the group walked towards Amethyst.
"Amethyst," Steven called. "Have you seen Ruby?"
"Yeah," replied Amethyst in a bored voice, not moving her eyes from the screen. "Uh, I seen her." She groaned in an Amethyst way. "She asked me for a pen and paper awhile ago," she continued as the trio made their way up the step hurried. Missing Sapphire's sobbing face, she asked, "Why?"
"Because..." Pearl said, annoyed, waving Ruby's note in Amethyst's face angrily and vaguely gesturing to a sobbing Sapphire, "she ran away."
Amethyst skimmed the note anxiously, it seemed."Did you see where she went?" Pearl pressed, crossing her arms.
"I don't know, maybe she'll come back," Amethyst scoffed irritably. "It's not my job to babysit her." Her mood changed, and she smiled. "Hey Steven," she called. "Get over here, I need a player two."
"Hold on a second Amethyst," Steven answered tiredly, turning to a silently weeping Sapphire. "Do you see her coming back in your future vision, Sapphire?" Sapphire had forgotten about her abilities for a while as she had wept for her missing half. It seemed like a scourge to her now."O-Oh, maybe," she choked with a wavering smile, lifting her head hopefully as she scanned her options. "But.." she chided with a wave of despair.
"She's so wonderful..." she whispered with tears streaming faster and faster down her face. She sniffed loudly. "...and spontaneous...!" Sapphire swore, these tears would freeze if she lost it, and she wasn't far from that after thinking about her wonderful, spontaneous Ruby. She began shaking uncontrollably as the stream of tears became a constant flow of sadness for her beautiful, impulse, daring, brave, momentous, inspiring...
"I don't know what she could-" she barely managed the words. Without further explaination, a splattering of tears danced around her as she embraced her arms and said, "Why would she be a COWBOY?!" Her hope snapped in half hopelessly and Pearl hurriedly accepted her embrace as Sapphire buried her messy face into Pearl's arms. Pearl gasped, unsure."There there," Pearl hurriedly reassured her, patting Sapphire's head. She clasped Sapphire's unbelievably cold hands in her own. "It's going to be okay," she flustered.
"She's going to come back," Pearl said, but mainly for herself. "She's got to come back." Pearl wasn't sure whether she was speaking aloud or not. "If she doesn't... then... then..." she paused. "...there would be no more Garnet," she said a little too darkly. "And.." she fumbled with her options for a hurried sentence. "...what on Earth would we do without Garnet?!" She. Suddenly felt more fragile than before.
"Oh Pearl!" Sapphire howled, breaking the hug up. She took an incredibly and violently unstable breath.
"How will I ever get her back?!" Sapphire cried desperately. Pearl wanted to say something reassuring, but something inside her pushed it away. She messily embraced Sapphire again.
"I don't know," Pearl answered, emotional. Tears welled in her own eyes. "You two are incredible together!" She looked up at nothing, and began to cry. "It can't be over!!"The two desperately helpless gems clutched each other and loudly wept as much as they liked hopelessly into each other's arms, losing themselves.

Okay... that totally didn't take a long time... (it was worth it). I like this bit. Actually, I like any Sapphire~Ruby interaction scenes even if it is indirect. Damn... anyway, on the note Ruby wrote in the actual episode, there was a tiny scribble on it. Clever fans quickly figured out with salvaged parts it was a little heart ;-;. Cri. Btw am I the only one who found Pearl and Sapphire crying in each other's arms hilariousEdit: If I update a sector of this book, it will most likely be a typo or error I've found.
Edit 2: changed the photo to something a bit better!
Me: Why is there a loooong hiatus?
SU: Becuase you're too obsessed. Why do you want the show back anyway, man???
Me: I get to look at you. (Rooby my baby please)
Aww can't it just b like dis? ;-;Credit (yayyy): https://www.deviantart.com/yamino/art/Pearl-Sapphire-Ruby-521275426
