I had eyes that gazed at stars
But a vinyl voice that couldn't save
A mind's truth locked behind bars
And its debt left unpaidA mouth like a jackhammer
A tongue like a snake
That spews infinite banter
For my sanity's sakeA love clock that won't tick
A stomach full of butterflies
A heart with no flame to its wick
Two leaky dams for eyesA pencil will that can't be sharpened
Vinyl voice with too many scratches
A flameless heart destined to be disheartened
When its voice can't speak up for matchesLimbs like a fork with prongs bent
An engine of a mind that won't start
Clouding the vision with smoke that won't vent
And holds too many broken partsTwo balloons lungs
Each with many holes
One for each secret flicked off my tongue
That past friends stoleA used piece of humanity
Whose unimportant memoirs
With ideas full of insanity
In an empty box of cigarsI had eyes that gazed at stars
But a vinyl voice that couldn't save
A mind's truth locked behind bars
And its debt left unpaid
