Leah POV:

My phone was ringing. I knew it was ringing but even though it was on the floor, it was too far away. I just covered my head with a pillow and attempted to fall back asleep. As I was drifting off and somebody was calling again, I just groaned and picked it up. Fine. I will wake up.

"What?" I asked before the person on the other end could even react.

"I want to go bicycling."

I rolled my eyes and fell back to bed in the comfort of the pillows and duvet and Shaun the sheep. "Go with your dog, Emma."

"I don't have a dog." She stated and I could almost feel her making puppy dog eyes so I would go with her who knows where for who knows how long.

"Take a crocodile with you then. Adopt one from the river." She was quiet for a long time before answering to me.

"You were still sleeping, weren't you?" She finally said and I had a feeling that she had no idea that I had stayed up till 4 am with my brother, watching Youtube videos because we didn't have anything better to do. Well, we did actually. But nobody needs to know that.

I signed and finally stood up, "Not anymore." I threw a random shirt from the floor on while still holding the phone, "You are in front of my house." I just stated, knowing my best friend almost too well.

"I am still planning to go bicycling with you so yes, I am in front of your house." She just laughed and I took a glance out of the window. There she was, standing next to a bike.

"Give me a minute." I finally gave up and I could hear her cheering quietly. I hang up the phone call, took a sip from the water bottle on my bedside. It felt refreshing and at that moment I didn't feel too bad about going outside. I needed to work out anyway.

I dressed fairly quickly but I still needed to pack my bag. It was around noon, so it was hot outside and I needed to be prepared. My brother Ashton is a doctor so he gets really annoyed when I forget to drink water and end up in ER with heat stroke. It has happened more than once.

I threw some random things in there along with a towel for god knows what reason, water bottles, keys and my phone. In the next moment, I was already riding down the road with my best friend Emma.

"You know, your sleep schedule is pretty fucked up," She said as we were passing the houses near the end of the city.

"Eh, I don't care. It's summer after all," I fixed the position of my helmet with my left hand and actually enjoyed the cooling wind.

"You have a point." Emma shrugged and for at least 20 minutes we just enjoyed ourselves. We were riding down the old dirt road to get away from the noise and lights of the busy city. We had done it before and at the end of it, there was a beautiful river. It was quite rocky so it took a lot of attentiveness not to fall. Ashton wasn't too happy that we had adapter this route as our main one because it can be dangerous. I had never fallen so I didn't mostly care.

At some point, maybe six, seven kilometers of riding, we decided to rest for a bit. My legs were sore and for god's sake, I was hungry as a wolf.

"Emma, do you want a granola bar?" She nodded and I threw her one, wandering off the road myself. I had removed my shoes because it was just grass and a few rocks so nothing bad. Emma didn't follow me, so I was on my own. But we still talked about Alaska because it was the dream destination for both of us.

"You know I think we should-" I started to stay but didn't look in front of me, causing me to step on something very sharp and painful. I took a tumble on the ground and closed my eyes shut from the pain radiation off my left foot.
