"Momma," this sweet voice said to me. I felt myself smile as soon as I heard it. Opening my eyes slowly, I looked for whoever had called me.

"Momma are you there?" This time the voice was a bit more than a whisper and more urgent. I sat up and noticed I wasn't in a place that was familiar to me. None of that mattered. I needed to find whoever was calling to me.

I stood up and looked around me, not seeing anyone that was close. I started walking forward when I heard a branch snap behind me, causing me to spin around and run towards the noise.

"Hello? Is anyone there?"

"Momma!" A little female voice yelled and something inside me felt panicked.

"I'm here. Where are you?" I continued to run towards the way I thought the sound was. Tree branches were hitting my skin, causing me to bleed. I was pushing myself to run faster and my lungs felt like they were going to stop working.

"Momma!" I stopped running, gasping for air. The scream came from right above my head. I planted my feet and started to move my head slowly, looking up towards the trees above me. I didn't see anything right away, which scared me more.

"Hello?" I asked in a weak voice.

"Hi, Momma," said a little girl. My eyes grew in size and I continued to look around through the branches.

"Can you come down so I can see you?"

"No, you hate me." Her statement caught me off guard and I felt pain in my chest.

"I'd never hate you. Come here and let me show you that I don't hate you." I heard a thump behind me on the ground and then a rustle of leaves. I spun around to see the most beautiful little girl I'd ever seen. Her hair was black and her eyes were green like emeralds. Her cheeks were pink and everything about her screamed at me to hold her in my arms.

"What's your name, sweetheart?" I crouched down on my knees and she moved back at my movement.

"You don't know my name?" Her eyes filled with tears and as I took a step towards her she backed away more. Her question caught me off guard and I stopped moving. Was I supposed to know this beautiful little girl? Was she important to me somehow?

I tried to think back on my life and I couldn't remember anything. I couldn't remember when my birthday was, who my parents were, where I grew up or even my name. I slouched back, falling on to my butt in shock.

"Are you okay, Momma?" Her voice was filled with concern and I looked up at her again, taking in her perfect little face. Something about her was comforting as well as familiar. She closed some of the gap between us and sat down about five feet from me. She crisscrossed her little legs and placed her hands on her lap, watching me.

"I feel something inside me that says I should know you. You call me Momma but I don't remembered you. Why is that?" She smiled at me but didn't speak.

"Try and remember us," Was all she said.

"I don't know what I should be remembering. Can you give me some kind of hint?" That caused her to smile at me but she still didn't say anything. She was going to make me work for this. Maybe I could coax it out of her? She was a kid and all kids like games, right?

"Alright, well can you tell me your name? I'll tell you mine."

"I know your name already, it's Momma." She smiled at me, knowing that she'd won that round.

"What's your favorite color?" I wanted to ask a basic question, something that had nothing to do with me remembering whatever she wanted me to remember.
