I wanted to run from where I was; Grab my child and just run, but something in me wouldn't let me move my feet. Emma was yelling at me that I was dead and that I'd never be able to touch my family again but I just couldn't live with that.

I could hear Jaya whimpering behind me and when Emma looked from my face to hers, I lost it.

"Shut up. Just shut up!" I screamed at her and she stopped speaking. I'd had enough of people telling me what to do, how to feel, how to live. I was done playing nice. I was done living for others.

"Oh, so you've grown a pair? You think standing up for yourself once in your small, pathetic little life will give you some kind of satisfaction or gratification? You're a hooker from the wrong side of the tracks who's Mommy and Daddy didn't love her enough. You will die, Larissa. You will die the same way you've always lived. Alone." Emma laugh next, causing something inside me to crack. Dropping Jaya's hand from behind my back, I felt at Emma, wrapping my arms around her neck.

"You said I was dead already right? So if I beat you to death now it can just be for practice." I squeezed her neck like I was holding on to it for dead life. Emma was struggling under my body, trying to get away from me but I was stronger than she was.

"Stop, you can't do this," She choked out from under me. "Who will life the curse?" Unfortunately, that stopped me dead in my tracks.

"Tell me how to lift it, Emma and I'll let you live."

"Get the hell off me and maybe I'll tell you," She spat back at me. I stood up and looked back in the place I'd left Jaya. Her eyes were as big at plates but she didn't seem scared of me as I approached her.

"I'm sorry, little one." I placed my hand on her face and she smiled up at me. I wasn't thinking clearly when I attacked Emma right in front of Jaya.

"It's okay, Momma. I'd hurt her too." She smiled again and looked back towards Emma, who was just picking herself off the floor. I smiled at her, knowing that I'd one this small round but ultimately, she had something I needed.

Emma stood up and faced me. She was rubbing her neck and breathing harder than normal. "I'll try to make this kid friendly, alright?" She moved to the other side of the room and grabbed a book.

"I'd appreciate that. Even though you say this isn't real, I don't want to traumatize my child." I smirked at her and watched as she found whatever she was looking for. She walked closer to me and placed the book on a chair and backed away.

"There, that's the spell I placed on you." She pointed to the book and I quickly walked towards it, picking it up and walked back by Jaya.

I looked over the words but something more pressing hit me. Why had she given me this so easily? I noted the page number in my head and closed the book. I looked at her and started to speak but she cut me off.

"I gave you the spell because you can't make it out of here. You will never be able to lift it so why not inflict more pain into your life knowing you have the solution but no way to fix it." Anger at her words filled what seemed like every inch of my body. I shook with rage and Emma just stood there with a smile, knowing she'd won this round. I grabbed Jaya's hand and pulled her from the room. What was left of my sanity couldn't take looking at her smug face for one more second.

Going back upstairs and the way we came, I saw the front door and prayed I could taste the fresh air on the other side of it. As I opened the door, another sight lay before me. All around me was dark. Eric, Alem, Michelle and Lucy were gathered around a body on a table. Eric's eyes held more pain than I'd seen in my whole life. I took a step forward, unable to stop myself from wanting to comfort him.
