Iruka's POV

I continue the journey as the reinforcement team arrived. I can't believe Yuki has the curse mark. Maybe it's connected to the things I overheard the elders said.

Sakura looks troubled. I guess she remembers Sasuke. She knows exactly the side effect of the curse mark.

Now that I think of that, Orochimaru must be near. We don't have the time to fight him. It's not that I'm being negative or hopeless, it's just, he's one of the Sannin, okay? Despite of being a Sannin, He was called as the genius that appeared once in a hundred years. It's not a good combination.

And, the worst case scenario is, Sasuke might be near too. I want to rescue him, of course. Bringing him back to the village will make Naruto and Sakura and the others happy. But, it's not a good option. We're here in a mission. Sakura will be panickes seeing Sasuke and yeah, things will happen. We have to run if we, by any chance, face him.

"what's wrong, Iruka? You don't seem well. What's with that face? You have to smile, we have to be youthful and energetic. And positive,".

I look at where the voice comes from. Guy said it with a big shiny smile and a thumb up. I smile.

"It's nothing important. I guess I was just daydreaming hahahahaha," I replies him and scatching my back head.

It's night already and we're setting up the camp. Neji and Kurenai offered to guard for the night. Guy, Sakura and the Watanuki boss head off to bed immediately. I can't sleep thinking of the situation.

I walk around the forest and find a waterfall. Before I walk there, I heard voices coming from there.

"Let's call it a day, Sasuke. It's night already. We should go,".

A white ponytail guy with glasses is standing beside the waterfall along with two other guys. One with a black long hair and the other with a red crest on his back.

It's them. Kabuto, Orochimaru and Sasuke.

I stand still in the shadows of the forest. Hearing to what they said. I don't think I can face all of them alone.

"Well, well, I see we got someone eavesdropping on us. Why don't you come out from there, Iruka?"

I walk out from the forest. I know he will definitely found out that I'm here.

Kabuto justify his glasses and smile. I look at them with anger but didn't approach them.

"Reunion, reunion, isn't it Sasuke-kun?" Orochimaru said.

I grit my teeth. Damn him.

Sasuke looks at me and frown. He didn't say anything.

I pulled out a kunai and hold it. I don't know why I did that, I obviously don't want to fight them here and now. I think I just want to hold it to protect myself.

"Look, Sasuke, your sensei is here to fight you. How about a spar to test your ability?" Orochimaru smirked at me. His snake eyes is looking deep into my eyes. It's frightening.

"Hnm,". Sasuke replied with a hum. Habits don't die easily.

"I'm not going to fight my student," I said. He smiles and chuckles. A creepy chuckle.

"Did you mean 'former student'? He's my apprentice now,".

"He's always gonna be my student, you bastard,"

"Oh well, cursing is no good Iruka-sensei. And it looks like your sensei don't want to fight you, Sasuke-kun. Or maybe, he wants to drag you back to Konoha. What do you say about it?" He said that with a teasing tone.

"I'm not going back to Konoha,"

I'm a bit disappointed even though I know it will happen. He looks even colder than before.

"You heard that. Now, we don't have time to talk anymore. I think it's a goodbye then," Orochimaru said and then they disappeared slowly. It looks like they're slowling burning in ashes. I don't have any idea what kind of jutsu is that.

"wa-wait!" I shout. But it's too late.

Neji's POV

I used my byakugan to see the situation around. I spot 4 chakras from the North. It looks like Iruka-sensei's chakra and one from the other three are....Sasuke?!

I jumped down from the tree and run to them. Still sensing the others chakra. One of them is from the Chuunin exam whose name is Kabuto and the other one is Orochimaru. This is bad. I can't left Iruka-sensei alone facing them.

Before I arrived, three chakras slowly disappeared leaving Iruka-sensei alone. Is it a jutsu or something? I'm not quite sure.

Iruka-sensei looks so troubled. He's holding onto a kunai and looked down. He looks so desperate.

"where are they going, Iruka-sensei?" I asked him. He looks at me and shake his head. I nod.

We head back to the camp in silence. As we arrived, Iruka-sensei looks at me desperately.

"you should go to sleep. I'll guard for the night," I said. Trying to comfort him. I'm not good at this at all.

He just sit down under a tree. I followed and sit beside him.

"Sasuke's not going back to the village," He suddenly said.

"Well, it's not so new to me."

"I talk to them. I know it from the start that Sasuke's not going back but I still don't get it,".

"He's a rogue ninja now. You can't expect anything from now on,". My words sound harsh but I'm just stating the truth.

"I should've hold them and bring Sasuke back,".

I sigh. "I think you made the right choice not to fight them. You can't do that alone. And letting Sakura knows about this is just gonna make it worse. She's just gonna hysterically run into Sasuke,".

"Yeah, I think so too,".

We just sit there in silence. I keep my guard up in case they're here or any other enemies approach us.

"It feels wrong this way even if it's a good thing to do. But, what's right is to bring Sasuke back. He's just gonna be another rotten twisted guy like him. He's my student. I won't let him be that way,".

Iruka-sensei looks down on his lap. His eyes furrowed and he sigh deeply.

"You did well, Iruka-sensei. I know how you feel about Sasuke. But, keeping all of us from danger is the right choice. We're in a mission anyway."

He nods and walk back to the tent.

"Night, Neji. And thanks," he said with a smile.

"Night, Iruka-sensei."
