Chapter 6

When I pulled up at Josh’s house, well I should say mansion, I looked down at my jeans and t-shirt and prayed they were okay. I had been here a million times, but I never got used to how gigantic their house was, especially in comparison to mine. I rang the doorbell and Mr. Anderson greeted me at the door. I smiled, “Hi Mr. Anderson, Josh called me ov-”

Josh pushed passed his dad, “Charlie, I have something I wanted to show you.”

“Um, okay?” I muttered an apology to his dad and followed Josh as he led me up the stairs and down what felt like a thousand halls until we reached a room I didn’t think I had ever been in before. When we entered the room, my jaw dropped to the floor. All around the room were gorgeous paintings. Each one was unique in its own way. There were pictures of people, rain puddles, flowers, and animals. You name it, it was in that room.

“Oh. My. Gosh. This is amazing, Josh. Did you paint all of these?” I looked at Josh, and by the look of accomplishment on his face, I would say the answer was yes.

“I have been painting these for over a year now. I didn’t realize I even enjoyed painting until my mom bought me some paint and a canvas for my birthday.”

“What are you going to do with all of these? You should auction them or something. They would bring in a lot of money for a charity.”

“I was thinking about framing some of my favorite ones, like this one,” he pointed at a painting of a dog and a little boy sitting on a dock. For the next half hour or so, Josh lead me around the room, showing me each and every painting and telling me a little bit about it. When we got to the last corner of the room, there was a large blanket covering something.

I pointed at the covered object, “What’s that?”

“That,” he grabbed my hand with one hand and with the other, he pulled the blanket off, “is your anniversary present.” The revealed painting was one of a pair of holding hands.

I stood in awe of the amazing painting before me, “Josh, it’s gorgeous. I love it.” I stood on my tiptoes and kissed Josh softly on the lips.

He pulled back and smiled, “I’m glad you like it.” Josh leaned down and placed his hands on my face, pulling me closer to him, and kissed me passionately. He continued to kiss me and I jumped up, wrapping my legs around his waist. On one side of the room, there was a dresser, and Josh walked to it and set me on top of it. His hands moved to my back and they slid up the back of my shirt, and slowly my shirt began to rise.

He pulled back to get air, and when he did, I whispered, “Not now.”

Josh nodded and picked me up off the dresser and set me down own the ground. We walked across the hallway to his bedroom and I sat down on his bed.

“So, do you want to watch a movie?” Josh asked, changing the subject.

“That would be great, what do you have?” I got off the bed and walked up behind him and wrapped my arms around his torso.

            “Your pick.”

I scanned the shelf for a movie I thought we would both enjoy, and decided on Silver Linings Playbook, “How about this one?” I asked.
