As soon as Courtney got home, she plopped down on the couch and waited for Sadie. Soon enough Courtney was covered in Sadie fur and she was laying across her lap, her big body like a living pillow. It felt so good to have Sadie there. Always understanding. Always there. The pair cuddled for hours. Well, Sadie cuddled while Courtney read or watched TV. Eventually, Courtney's mom made her get outside because, as she put it, "You are going to turn into a couch potato!" Either way, her mom didn't make her go back to school that day, and Courtney was perfectly OK with that. So, for the sake of her mother, she took her pup outside. Courtney would throw the Frisbee across the yard and Sadie would sprint after it like the wind. They played well into the afternoon, with frequent breaks to rest up or to get water. They played many different games together. They played frisbee, fetch, and tackle. After a while it got to be awfully hot, so the best friends retired to the pool for a refreshing swim. As the sun began to set, Ms. Enamos called her daughter in for dinner and to see her dad. When she walked in, Courtney found her dad already seated at the table for dinner. "What's for supper," she asked. "Mashed potatoes, steak, and green beans. Your favorite! I figured you could use some cheering up after what happened today," she replied. "Yum," her dad said. "Time's awastin'! Time for dinner," he said rubbing his belly. The family practically inhaled their dinner, because they were all starving, but as usual, Courtney finished first. She excused herself from the table to go write in her diary.
