Chapter 25: Grief Serum

As if the realization hit you like a bolt of lighting, you run and jump off the tower, landing on a board. "Damn woman." you hear one of the Gladers say. You ignored the coment and run to the med-jack hut.

You burst in where Clint, Jeff, and Newt were standing by Alby's bedside. "Jeff! you yell out of breath. "What is it, Y/N?" Jeff asked. "I think--we--may have---Alby." you're practically wheezing every word you say. "Hey. Breathe. What's going on?"

Then Thomas and Teresa follow up behind you. "We may have found a cure for Alby." said Thomas, handing one of the syringes to Newt.
"Hang on, we don't even know that this stuff is. We don't know his sent it."
"-The people behind the acronym." you mutter under your breath.
"-Or why it came up with you." he pointed to Teresa. "For all we know, this could kill him."

"He's already dying." said Thomas. "Look at him. How could this possibly make it any worse?"
You look at Alby's struggling body, which is tied to the bed. His veins are blackened and he looks like he's having a seizure. 

"Alright." Newt replied. "Do it." he handed you the syringe. Thomas, who had the other syringe went to do it. 
What the shuck? I was supposed to that, shank! you think to yourself. "

Alby awoke and grabbed Thomas. "You shouldn't be here!" Alby yelled. His eyes were blackened and bloodshot. "Watch out!" said Newt as he tried to restrain Alby. You glanced at the syringe you had in your hand and went for it, aiming at one of Alby's blackened veins on his stomach. You then jabbed at it, leaving the syringe there after you stuck him with it.

Alby did a loud sigh and plopped back down on the bed. 
"Well, that worked." said Jeff awkwardly. "Good job, love." said Newt. "But, from now on, someone stays here and watches him around the clock." he demanded.

"-Hey." came Gally's voice. "Sundown, Greenie. Time to go."
Thomas had to spend the night in the pit for breaking the rules. So, he calmly went with Gally.

You stood there with the other for a few minutes, then went to go have some of Frypan's food.

You properly introduced Teresa to everyone. Some called dibs on her behind her back, when you clearly heard the words and gave them a hard glare. 

You and Teresa sat down at a log with your food. You had her try some of Gally's drink, which she spat out instantly. She groaned in disgust and handed it back to you. You took a swig of the brown liquid. "How can you even drink that stuff?" she groaned. "You get used to it after a few jars. Took me until one day when the boys dared me to drink five jars of this stuff without stopping or spitting it out."
Teresa giggled. "Do you like it here?" she asked. "Yes, but no." you reply. "Why?" she asked.

"Being the only girl at first was fun, but sometime's frustrating.  I do a lot of jobs. But, when I try to go for something smart, like try to find a way out of this place based on a theory, they turn me down. But, when Thomas came up with the same theory I did, they tag along behind him."

"-They just don't know the definition of girl power." Teresa nudged you. "Tell me about it." you agree. The two of you laughed and you glanced at Newt who was talking with Frypan and Winston. Teresa noticed you staring. "Are you two a couple?" she asked with a smirk. "Yeah." you blush. "He's the best thing that's ever happened to me since I got here. We both believe we were together before the maze, based off the dreams we have."
"Interesting." Teresa said. "You're lucky." she sighed. "Hey, I'm sure Thomas will come to his senses and confess." you nudge her. "You two seem to know each other anyway."
"-And yet, I don't know how." Teresa sighed. "You must be really strong, brave, and smart. I'm just an accident."
"-No, you're not." you interrupt. "Not to me, anyway. It's a blessing to have another girl in the glade."
Teresa gave you a bright smile, which you endured. "You think so?" she asked. "I know so." you assure her.

After a few more minutes of girl talk, Newt called Lights Out and you went to go say goodnight to him (the usual hug and kiss), then you went to show Teresa her room.

You gave her the bed while you slept on the floor. It was a little difficult to sleep because you were going back into the maze the next morning, and Teresa was saying weird things in her sleep that you could not decipher.
