A lot of thought pondered your mind. First Gally, one of your closest friends (so much as a brother) turns against you. Second, you are finally leaving this hell to go to the outside world (or what was left of it). Third, you are afraid that maybe when you leave, a worse fate waits for outside the maze.

You, Thomas, and Minho are leaving the way to the outer ring you went to yesterday. Poor Chuck was dragging behind, so you jogged back to him, grabbed his hand, and helped him catch up with the others.

You made it through the blades of section seven. When you were about to enter the hallway/tunnel, you heard the familiar clicking and growling sound of a Griever. "Is it a Griever?" asked Chuck. Thomas looked back from the corner and nodded. "Shit." Chuck loudly whispered. Minho gave Chuck the key. "Take this, Chuck. Stay behind us."
Chuck looked a little uneasy. "It's okay," said Teresa, putting her hair in a messy ponytail. "Just stay with me."
Thomas then said "Once we're through, it'll activate and the door will open. We stay close, we stick together. We get through this. We get out now or we die trying. Ready?"

You took out your knife, showing that you were. "Let's do this partner." you say enthusiastically. "All right, LET'S GO!"

And with that, you and Thomas led a battle cry and as the others joined, you charged at the Griever, pointing your weapons. The Griever's tail hovered over it's head as it noticed you and the others threatening it. As you were about to charge right into it, it jumped over your heads. All of you started to jab at it. One of the Griever's legs grabbed a glader and pushed him over the edge. Teresa chopped part of it's leg off, causing the key to be thrown from Chuck's hands. "The key!' Chuck yelled, going after it. "Chuck, watch the edge!' you yell as Teresa ran to help. You would've done so, if it weren't for the Griever's stinger trying to jab at you as you chopped it off.

You then help the others push the Griever to the edge. Once it fell over the edge, you turn to Chuck and Teresa's direction where they were both running from two more Griever. "Thomas!" Chuck yelled. "Chuck!" you and Thomas say in unison. You let Chuck and Teresa slide by you to get to the door to activate it. "Keep it steady , guys!' Newt said. "Teresa, go!" Thomas yelled. "Y/N, go with them!" Newt said. "No, not yet!" you refused, stabbing at one of the Griever's legs, breaking it off. Two more of those boys, including Clint were grabbed by the Griever and were thrown off the edge. "Clint!" you yelled charging at the Griever who had done so. You jumped on top of it and stabbed it's head. The others yelling words of protest and enthusiasm to you.

Another Griever charged up behind you, but you jumped off the dead Griever and rolled away to the others. "Damn girl!" said Minho.
"-Thomas, there's a code." said Teresa. "Eight numbers!"
You hear this and immediately know what she's talking about. "Minho, the sequence!" you yell. "What?" Minho said, not able to hear you. "The pattern of the sections in the maze! What's the sequence!" Thomas chimed in.

Minho, who heard that time started to call "Seven! One! Five! Two! Six! Four!-"
Before Minho finishes, a Griever lands on top of him. Jeff charges at the Griever and pushes it off Minho. Jeff then starts to get strangled by the same Griever. "Jeff, NO!" you scream as Jeff is being taken by the Grievers. Newt pulls you into the doors. "The sequence! Come on!" Newt yelled.

Minho continued "-Four! Eight! Three! You got it?"

You hear the door beep and look behind you. The next door has opened. The walls then closed and The Griever who started to gang up on you, got crushed. You backed up into the last door, that closed immediately after you got in.

You lost quite a few friends. Jeff, Clint, even some of the Gladers you didn't much talk to, you considered a friend. But, you couldn't focus on that much now.
Another door opened and shined a blinding light into your exhausted eyes. you were now looking into a hallway as more light started to flicker on from the left side to the right.
