My mom knows how hard the past weeks have been for me. I left my abusive boyfriend and I had nowhere to go, so she offered to let me stay with her. Being a 25 year old and staying with my parents may seem weird, but given my situation, i couldnt thank her enough. My cousin that I was close with died. The only thing that kept me going was music. Specifically a band named Set It Off.

Set It Off is my favorite band ever. Cody is so funny, Maxx is adorable, Zach is sarcastic, and Dan is so nice. Personally, he's my favorite.

They make me smile over every little thing they do. Their music is amazing. Their weekly YouTube videos are awesome. They kept me going. They're the reason I'm still here.

My mom knows how much they've done for me, and asked me a whole bunch of questions about them.

"What are your favorite songs?" She asked.

"I'd Rather Drown, Nightmare, Why Worry, Kill The Lights, This Christmas I'll Burn It To The Ground, and Plastic Promises," I said, naming all of my favorites.

"Okay, thanks sweetie," she said, walking away.

Okay? Well, that was weird.

I went back up to my room with my headphones in. Listening to Horrible Kids, I thought of my cousin, how he died. He took his own life. The kids were horrible to him. I started crying. I cried myself to sleep thinking about him. Typical night for me...

I woke up and felt horrible, so I stayed in my room and slept all day. At around 8 PM, I got a knock on my bedroom door. I sighed, then opened it.

"What, mom?" I said, annoyed.

"I have a surprise for you. Come outside, but close your eyes. I'll guide you," she said holding out her hand. I obeyed.

She guided me through the house. I heard the door close behind us, so I knew we were outside the house. We kept walking for a couple minutes before we came to a stop. I felt the heat of a bonfire near me.

"Okay, (y/n. Open up!" She said. I opened my eyes and I couldn't believe what stood before me.

I started crying. I was so happy..

"So this is the amazing, strong (y/n) we keep hearing about," Cody said.

"We heard about your boyfriend, and your cousin," Maxx said.

"Our sincere condolences go out to you, and your family," Zach said, coming towards me to give me a hug.

"We love you, (Y/n)," Dan concluded. I ran up to them and hugged them, my tears flowing down my cheeks.

After that they played my favorite songs. They talked to my mom, and told me some things that have happened to them back in LA. While Maxx, Cody, and Zach got food, Dan stayed and talked to me.

"Abusive boy, huh?" Dan asked.

"Y-yeah... it sucked," I said, my eyes filled to the brim with tears.

"I can only imagine. Why would someone so fucking stupid ever hurt a beautiful girl like you?" He asked. I shrugged my shoulders.

"Maybe you want to go out on a date sometime. My treat," Dan said, planting a kiss on my forehead.

"Of course," I said kissing him back.

"Great," he said.

"I love you, (Y/n)," he said, his hands cupping my face.

"I love you too, Dan."
