Once we arrived at the prison, Hilna, Maya, Volstagg, and Fandral were fighting the prisoners. I scanned the room in search of Loki, but I couldn't see him anywhere. I then took out my vibrosword as I began to fight with the prisoners.

"Return to your cells and further harm will come to you. You have my word." Thor informed the prisoners.

At that moment, one of the prisoners punched Thor in the face, causing him to fight right back. "Very well, you don't have my word."

After we made sure all the prisoners returned to their cells, I spotted Loki in his cell. He was sitting by the window as he read a book.

"Loki, what happened?" I asked.

"It wasn't me." He immediately said as he looked up from his book.

"I know it wasn't..." I replied, feeling guilty that I considered the fact that it might've been him. "But who did this?"

Loki averted his gaze to the ground. "I may know..."

"Really? Who?" I questioned.

When Loki remained silent, I calmly urged him to tell me. "Please Loki, this is serious. Someone could be in danger."

Finally Loki looked up, locking his eyes with me. "There was a dark elf here...he left the dungeons not too long ago."

I flashed a smile of gratitude. "Thanks Loki."

As I turned to leave, Loki called out to me. "Storm?"

"Yes?"

"Be careful. This dark elf is different...he isn't like the other dark elves." Loki warned.

"Don't worry Loki. I'll be fine." I assured.

"That's what you said last time before you told me that you may not return." Loki reminded me. "I...I just don't want to lose you..."

"That was different...I was in the middle of a war. This time I'll be fine." I tried reassuring him. "And you'll never lose me, Loki. I'll always be here, by your side."

"Storm...you remember when you said you love me?" Loki nervously asked. "Well...I-I..."

"I know." I replied as I wore a warm smile. "I saw you talking to Thor and I overheard you telling him that you love me as well."

Loki was taken back. "And you never thought to tell me you were alright?"

I winced, but I didn't back down. "I'm sorry Loki, I really wanted to...but I was very preoccupied. I had several missions that I was either in charge of or I had to go on. Not to mention I was also a spy while holding a position as the Diktat of Corellia, my home planet. And on top of that I was training a young girl to become a Jedi along with her younger sister. I really wanted to tell you I was alright, but the timing wasn't good."

"It's alright...you've told me you had lots of things to do..and I've done nothing but been bitter about it." Loki apologized, surprising me. "Just please be careful."

"Don't worry Loki, I'll be very careful." I said before I left the prison.

As I left the prisons, I used the force to locate the dark elf. It wasn't long until I found him in a tower where Frigga was along with another dark elf, which looked very different just like Loki mentioned. Before I could do anything, the taller dark elf impaled Frigga right before my eyes.

"No!" I yelled out.

At the same time Thor rushed into the room, sending a bolt of lightning at one of the elves. And just like that the elves jumped off the balcony and they were off. I wore a horrified look as Odin scooped Frigga up in his arms. I wore a sympathetic look as I watched Odin and Thor mourn over Frigga.

•••

That very night, a funeral was held for Frigga. All the Asgardians mourned for her as Frigga was sent out to the sea on a boat. Once the boat was far from us, Odin took an arrow which was engulfed in flames and released the arrow onto the boat, burning the boat. Later that day I learned from Thor that the dark elf with the other taller one was named Malekith and he wanted something called the Aether.

Currently, Fandral Heimdall, Hilna, Maya, Sif, Thor, Volstagg, and I were gathered in one of the rooms as Thor wished to speak to all of us. "What I'm about to ask of you is treason of the highest order. Success will bring us exile and failure shall mean our death. Malekith knew the Aether was here, he can sense its power. If we do nothing he will come for it again, but this time lay waste to all of Asgard. We must move Jane off world."

"The Bifrost has been shut down and the Tesseract locked away in a vault." Sif commented.

"There are other paths off Asgard, ways known only to a few." Heimdall explained.

"One, actually." Thor replied.

Everyone but Hilna, Maya, and I seemed to be on the same page as they wore dubious looks. Volstagg shook his head. "No."

"He will betray you." Fandral chimed in.

"He will try." Thor corrected him.

I furrowed my brows. "I'm sorry I don't think I follow. Who knows these paths known to only a few people?"

Everyone remained silent, giving each other looks until Thor hesitantly spoke up. "I speak of Loki. He knows of every secret passage on Asgard."

Oh...that is why they were all apposed to the idea...

"Well, what then? Your lovely mortal is being guarded by a legion of our Einherjar who will see you coming from miles away." Fandral pointed out.

"I won't be the one who comes for her." Thor said before looking over to Sif.

"And what of the All-Father?" Sif questioned.

"It is my sworn duty to notify him of crimes against the throne." Heimdall explained.

"Assuming you can get Loki's help, and you can free this mortal, what good would it do? We'd all be dead the minute we step one foot outside the palace." Volstagg mentioned.

"That, my friend, is where we won't be leaving by foot." Thor replied.

Volstagg's face lit up as he remembered. "Of course. Malekith's ship. He left it in the hallway."

"That's the plan. Any questions?" Thor asked.

Hilna opened her mouth to speak but before she could speak, Thor clasped his hands together. "Very well. Let's go."
