It was the first day back at school and everyone knows about the news of Jason Blossom and how he went missing the week of July 4th. You tried to hang out with Archie as much as you can over the summer but he kept blowing you off and you were getting suspicious as you guys have been friends for pretty much your whole lives. You see Archie talking with Betty, and some raven haired girl you've never seen before so you decide to go and say hi seeing as you grew up with Archie and Betty. You knew about Betty's crush on Archie because she told you one day not knowing that you liked him as well.
"Hey Archie, hey Betty, who's this?" you ask nicely towards the new girl.
"Veronica Lodge, nice to meet you." She says extending her hand for you to shake while smiling at you. You smile back and shake her hand.
"Y/N Y/L/N, nice to meet you too." you say then turn to Archie.
"Hey Archie, can I talk to you for a minute alone?" you ask.
"Sure Y/N, see you guys later." he says to Betty and Veronica as you guys start walking off. You guys decide to go to one of the tables outside and talk.
"What did you need to talk to me about Y/N?" He says looking at you once you guys sit down.
"I was just wondering how you were doing with the whole Jason thing." you say, which isn't a complete lie, but you didn't just want to jump out and ask him why he's been blowing you off all summer. He sighs and looks at you.
"Honestly? Not so good, like yeah we played football together and we talked but I just wish this town could go back to how it was you know?" He asks. You look down and sigh.
"Yeah, which leads me to another question that I have for you."
"And that is?"
"Do you not like me anymore or what?"
"What do you mean? Of course I like you, you're my best friend, why do you think I wouldn't?" You have to admit, that hurt but you can't let him know that.
"I was just wondering if I did something wrong because all summer I've been trying ti hang out with you but you just kept blowing me off so I just assumed that you didn't like me anymore." He takes your hand from across the table and looks upset.
"That's not it at all Y/N, my dad has just been making me work with him all summer, that's why I couldn't hang out with you." he finally explains, you can tell that he was lying, but decide against it.
"Oh okay, that makes sense."
