Chapter Fourteen: 2 Weeks Before Summer Ends

Kate sits next to her mum. "Are you ready for your surprise, Kate?" Emma smirked. "What surprise?" Kate tilted her head.

And at that exact moment, the man emerged from the counter. "Hi, darling." He said, holding a gift wrapped with a pretty purple bow on top.

The man that emerged from the counter was her dad. "Surprise." He said, giving a small laughter. "Dad!" Katie hugged him. She opened her gift and inside the box was a teddy bear. It was soft and fluffy. "Omg! Thank you dad!"

Emma laughed. "Let's eat dinner first." And so everyone sat down and ate dinner. The roasted turkey was amazing, but the gravy was better. Kate ate the most turkey was so full, she could be the next stuffed turkey!

"How was your trip, dad?" Kate asked, eating the turkey. "It's fine, anak." (If you don't remember, 'anak' means 'son' or 'daughter' or 'child.') "I went here safely with no problems at all!" He laughed. "Thank you for the teddy bear. Where did you get it?" Kate asked. "I just saw it at the mall before I headed to the airport. I thought you'd like it." He replied.

Linda and Mike aren't that into Tagalog, but they know a few. They were born in the Philippines but both parents of Linda and Mike raised them in America. In fact, they were best friends that became into lovers. Then gave birth to Linda and Mike. They were also best friends that become into lovers. But Emma and Kate's dad was different, however. 

Everyone was done eating turkey. Linda, Mike, and Emma, and her dad were mostly chit-chatting. Eventually, Kate stood up and went to her room. No one really noticed. She went up the staircase and entered her cozy room. She whipped out her phone and immediately opened discord. 

Kate: heyy ate the best turkey ever! and guess wat

Trisha: wat

Kate: my dad went home and surprised me!! he gave me a teddy bear

Aki: awesome. wish jax would give me one.

Jax: im saving up. just wait shithead! i already reserved one for you. 

Aki: ..ok 

Kate: anyway how are your guys' days?

Soon they talked and talked and told each other what happened. Trish met some new internet friends. They met at Discord using this Bot that connects random users and talk. Yes. A bot like that in Discord exists. Jax was robbed 20 Pesos (1.06 USD or $1.06). He was in a public transport and was holding out 20 pesos in his hand. A random guy stole it and jumped out the moving vehicle. Aki, as usual, had a very boring and introverted life.

They talked until 1 A.M. Kate was already feeling sleepy. She ended the call and tucked herself in bed. She looked over her bed and realizes Mr. WiggleButt is not with her. He's back at the Philippines. Eventually, she manages to fall asleep. 

Katie wakes up. It was 10 A.M. She didn't manage to set an alarm so she's surprised that she woke up early for once. She sees her door wide open and Beethoven was sleeping by the doorway. "Beethoven?" Kate mumbled, still half-asleep. She stumbled herway and hopped across Beethoven. She walks down the corridor like a drunk/sober person then carefully down the steps. "Mom?" Kate grumbled. 

"Darling, we have a surprise for you!" Emma said excitedly. "Yes, anak. We're going on a 2 week vacation!" Her dad cheered. "We still have 2 weeks before school will start! And you'll be in the same school as your friend... 'Bloom' was her name?" Her dad said. "Wait, what?!" Kate was shook. And I (Aki writing this. :3) can tell you for sure, that really woke her up.

"Where to?" She asked. "In a beach, of course. With Linda and Mike. And of course, Beethoven!" Emma laughed. "Anak, I promise you'll love it there. It's also considered some 'dog hotel' because you'll see a variety of dogs." Her dad explained. 

"A DOGGO HOTEL?!?!?" Kate blasted with excitement. "Calm down, anak." Emma said. "We're going to leave later tonight. Around 5:30 or 6 PM we'll be there. We'll eat dinner there." Emma continued. "But dogs don't eat with their owners unless they're pampered or well trained." Kate's dad said. 

"Oh." Kate sighed in disappointment. "Although, the people are friendly and so are the dogs. I don't think they'll mind someone petting their doggos." Her dad laughed. 

Emma and her dad has already packed their bags. Linda was taking a bath and Mike was outside sipping some warm tea. "We can't be unprepared or late."Emma said. "Go prepare yourself." Emma then said. Kate nodded and headed upstairs to choose her outfit. 

Her closet held many clothes meaning Kate needs to have a lot of decision making. Kate can't ask Aki cuz she knew Aki would let her wear the silly ones and make her look like a clown. She couldn't ask Jax either because that would be weird. Plus, Jax only cared about Aki. Not to be rude, he does look at Kate as a friend but Jax cared more to Aki cuz him and Aki are... More than friends. 

She reached out her phone and asked Trisha...

Kate: yooo! what to wear?

Trish: idk. what clothes you have?

Kate placed in two outfits on her bed along with matching shoes on top of them. One was a casual look. A grey loose shirt, skinny jeans and a pair of low top converse. The other one was a sleeveless maroon top, ripped jeans and a pair of low top converse .Kate sent the photo

Trish: second one hahahaha

Kate: okok. thankss

Kate followed and chose the second one. Now that was prepared, she grabbed a towel. Just in time, Linda was done bathing. She heard Linda exit the bathroom. She then head downstairs to see Linda wrapped with a long robe and a towel on her head. "It's your turn. Go in before Emma uses it." Linda laughs. Kate nods and took a long warm bath.

After, Kate dried herself. Emma was waiting outside. "Salamat! Took you long enough!" ('Salamat' (pronounced as Salah-mat) means Thank You). She head upstairs and quickly wore the outfit Trish told her to. 

It was already 12 PM and Kate doesnt have time for lunch. She needs to go to that hotel like... Right now. They weren't planning to eat lunch anyways. Few hours pass by and it was 2 PM. Everyone was prepared and ready to go!

"Did you prepare a bathing suit?" Her dad asked. "Why?" Kate asked. "There's a beach too!" Her dad laughed. "What?!" Kate said, heading back to her room and grabbing a quick bathing suit. Bathing suit in hand, she ran out the house and Mike locked the door. Everything was secured and finished. Kate rushed to the car and didnt have time to fold it and place it in her bag. She just stuffed it in.

Beethoven sat at Linda's lap, which where Linda was sitting at the front seat. The car engine started and they drove off! To their 2 week vacation!
