Chapter forty-four
“I caught one! I caught one!” I said to Jason. I was home for Memorial Day. My brothers took me on a fishing trip with Randy who they now consider as a brother. I was happy to be out in the sun, my skin turned a dark brown and my hair turned lighter. Jason helped me real in a big fish. We rock the boat sending us into the water.
Randy saw the fish swimming on the hook; he managed to grab him as it started squirming. Randy flipped the boat back over and placed the fish on the deck. Randy climbed into the boat helping us back in.
“Big fish!” He exclaimed, smacking it. Later on that night, as the fish was being cooked, I couldn’t help to overhear Jason and Randy talking about what has been going on lately.
“I just don’t like how Dean Ambrose, looks at Emily.” Jason said to Randy. Randy nodded,
“Hunter and Stefanie mean serious business when they said they would try to tear her away from me.” Randy said softly, drinking some beer. They tried to talk softly in order not to scare me. I have been jumpy the past few weeks.
They talked about how my appearance changed in my style and my attitude.
“She looks good though…” Jason said turning his head slightly towards me as I set the table. Randy turned too, winking at me. I couldn’t help the smile coming onto my face. Jason and Randy giggled a little bit.
“Man she’s got it bad for you!” Leo exclaimed. Randy laughed, knowing the feeling is neutral.
It all began the week after my birthday. The Authority now had Dean and Paige on their side, the new Viper and Viperess. Dean kicked Randy’s ass in one match, as much as I wanted to run to Randy’s side I had to reinforce myself. I knew it was a trick by the Authority, everyone waited for me to run out. My job was to feed the Viper not protect him, Randy had told me. He forgives me.
The next night, I went against Paige. I was getting my ass kicked now; my head throbbed from her kicking my head in. At times I just wanted to tap out, but then that would give The Authority the idea I’m growing weak. I know Randy couldn’t stand watching, I know he was nervous for me. Eventually Paige tapped out when I did the Neck Crusher.
I screamed into her face, “Life is like a jungle, are you brave enough to walk in it?”
That night, Randy and I laid on the bed, groaning from the pain. The covers were over us, my bare chest on his. I felt we were doing a good job keeping our secret, I stand watch and I tame him when he gets too wild. Randy’s fingers prickled my back; goosebumps formed and I shivered. I giggled softly, as his arm was tucked gently under me. His eyes were gently shut as he drifted to sleep.
As he drifted he mumbled, “They won’t take you from me…” I smiled falling into a soft cloud. I had a dream. I usually don’t remember dreams, but this one I do. I had a dream about Dean. He came up to me and kissed me. Normally I would’ve slugged him in the face, but I accepted his lips. Then I saw Paige kissing Randy. It angered me. I began to kick the crap out of her.
“Emily! Emily!” Randy shake me awake. I woke up, and realized it was morning. I had an uncomfortable about Dean all day. I did not tell Randy about, I was afraid he might think I had feelings for Dean, which I don’t. I love Randy. Randy and I couldn’t even go downstairs to grab breakfast together. Only one of us could do it. Randy only had coffee and toast. I had just a muffin, picking at it. That dream about Dean was too real.
I told Randy I was going for a jog, I kissed him goodbye and he told me to be careful. The sun was warmer today. It was beautiful out. My thoughts of Dean vanished when I started to run. I felt good after the jog. I wiped my face, taking deep breathes.
