The bar is alive with people drinking and talking and gathered all throughout the building when we arrive, as it should be on a Friday night. The loud swarm of voices doesn't distract me at all after a few moments, I get used to it and it all becomes background. Kate's good at the bar scene. She's so loud it's easy to hear her over all the others talking. I however, have to strain myself to make my voice audible over the crowd. I fidget with my wedding ring while Kate orders our drinks and all the way up until they arrive at the table. "You're not very talkative tonight. Are you alright?" She asks, passing my drink over to me. "Fine, just a little beat up from work." I've had a rough couple days, but I know it'll be worth the hard work in the end. I've just gotta get through it. Kate nods sympathetically and then goes on to tell me about her most recent work project. While we're talking I spy the billiard table in the back corner and my eyes light up. "Look." I gesture to the table and Kate follows my gaze. "Interested in a game?" She asks, cocking an eyebrow at me. She knows we're both pretty good pool players from all the times in the past we've played, but we've never had a strictly one on one game before. "Oh, you are so on." I hop up from the table ready to go and she grins at me, in full competitive mode.
Kate ditches her jacket at the table and follows after me to the pool table. She retrieves the pool balls from the pockets they were left in and racks them right at the center of the table. I choose properly sized cues for the two of us and hand Kate her's. "You can break." She offers me the chalk and I take it out of her hand. I blow of the excess and Kate smirks at me as I line up the my shot. The rack scatters from the force of my hit and a yellow ball rolls into the side pocket. "I want stripes." Kate mutters, still watching me intently. When it's her turn I back off to give her room to get into position. She eyes the table, looking predatory, competitive, confident, and sexy as hell. She chooses a side she'd like to strike from and leans over the table, positioning herself. She then hits the cue ball and one of my red balls is sent rolling into the back pocket. "Shit." I mutter, to myself, watching the beginning of the ass beating I'm about to receive in our game of pool. She gives me a smug look, moves to circle the table, then re-positions herself along the table again. She's all ass in the air, in fully concentrated seduction mode and I know I'm a goner. It's hard to think with her looking like this, let alone focus enough to win a game of pool. She misses her target, making it now my turn. I lean over the edge of the table, ready to strike, when she catches me off guard by beginning to speak. "You know, I could just stand here watching you bending over this table all day..." She says, bringing a crimson blush to my cheeks. I take a deep breath to steady myself, then I take my turn. I get three balls in and I'm proud to admit that I've caught up with Kate. Perhaps I won't lose after all. Kate looks at the table, then to me, a small smile on her lips. Then she moves and stands at my side. I watch her bend over, just inches from me, and the heat pulsating in my cheeks floods my body. She takes her shot, then we switch places. Now it's my turn to be distracting. I bend over slowly, then peer up at her to make sure she's watching. I run my hand up and down the cue, hit my mark, and two striped balls fall into a pocket. "Are you trying to distract me with this?" Kate asks, running one hand down my spine and over my backside while I'm still bent over the table. "Maybe." I whisper, giving her a teasing look. "What're you gonna do if I am?" I ask, eyeing her curiously. She smacks my backside hard, and I gasp. "My turn." She says, as I move back into an upright position and out of her way. She pockets the remaining balls, leaving only the black just off center. She chalks her cue and positions herself for the final strike. She of course, makes it perfectly into her goal. "I win!" She cheers, triumphantly. I roll my eyes, but can't help but to smile at her victory. "Let's grab a few more drinks then we can head home." I suggest and we head back over to our table.
More than a few drinks later we stumble towards the exit together, arms linked. Kate rambles on with her story about a jellyfish, while I try my best to listen intently. I have no idea how we even got on the topic let alone where she's going with this story, but It's nice to hear her talk so animatedly about something. She laughs loudly, sending confused looks our way as we exit the building and go to wait for our cab. I repeat agreements and nod my head as she talks, not really even comprehending the insane story shes trying to tell, while we stand on the street and wait to be picked up. She giggles and her whole face lights up in a smile when she finishes telling the ending of her story and I return her cheery smile. "Oh my god, you're so cute." I gush, leaning in for a quick kiss. "No, you're so cute, Ana." She exclaims, tightening her grip on me. "Come on, that's our ride." I say, pulling her arm in the direction of the car that just pulled up to give us a much needed ride home.
