I woke up Saturday morning to the smell of pancakes and bacon and Evey calling my name and something about people downstairs. Being me I chose to ignore the part that people were downstairs and since they were at my house at 7 o'clock AM, they would have to deal with my outfit, hair, and breath. I walk down the stairs in my frilly white lace underwear and a big t-shirt that showed that I wasn't wearing pants. I rub my eyes and look at the dining room table. Hudson, Lance, Evan, and Jace were all sitting there gawking at my lack of pants.
"Holy crap!" I yell as they start laughing under their breaths.
"Naomi, I told you they were here. Didn't you hear me?" Evey says while flipping a pancake.
"Don't try to have a conversation with me right away in the morning!" I groan. Hudson scoots out his chair a little and invites me to sit on his lap. Jace and Evan look at each other and the look down at their food and start playing with it. Lance just "oohs" and continues to rip apart a strip of bacon.
"Why are you guys here?" I ask them.
"We're all going to the state fair and you need to come with us. Plus it's kinda Jace's birthday." Evan says, still playing with his food.
"Oh my goodness, happy birthday Jace!" I exclaim.
"Thanks." he tells me after drinking some orange juice.
"Now go get some clothes on so we can leave." Hudson states. I give him a look and they all laugh.
I run up the stairs and quickly apply makeup. Then I skip into my room and put on a pair of white shorts a gray cropped top and my converse. I turn on my straightener and then brush my teeth. Once I quickly run the straightener through my hair, I grab my phone and purse and then give myself a spritz of perfume. I run down the stairs and meet up with the boys in the living room. I yell goodbye to Evey and tell her to tell my dad where I am because he left for work already.
"Alright hon. Have fun." she said a as I walk out of the door. We all pile into Hudson's car, me in the passengers side and Lance, Evan, and Jace all smushed in the back. On the way there, we talk about how Maine was and if I was staying in California for the school year. I told them that I was and they exploded into whoops and hollers of joy. At the fair we try to go onto every ride possible. After trying out all the roller coasters and stomach droppers we head to the Ferris wheel. It's a large one with cages instead of seats so we could all sit in one. Near the top, Lance gets a phone call and he answers it.
"Hello?" he asks. It's his long time girlfriend Genevieve. They had been together since sophomore year and had gone string until then. We couldn't hear her side of the conversation but we could tell it wasn't good. Lance's facial expression dropped and we waited for an explanation. We went around a full time and a half until he hung up. We were towards the top again but someone puked so they were cleaning it out.
"What the hell was that about?" Hudson asked Lance.
"Well, Genevieve called and she's moving to Europe. She just broke up with me." He said almost in tears.
"Awe! Lance! I'm so sorry!" I say to him as I reach over to give him a hug. He hugs me back and then breaks down into tears. We all try comforting him and ask if he wants any food or drinks. He just continues to cry so we head home. Hudson drops off Jace, Lance, and Evan at Lance's house telling them he'll be back once he drops me off at home.
At the house, he walks me up to the front door.
"Sorry I have to bail on you, I kinda just have to be with Lance right now." He says. I tell him that I'm totally fine with it and that he should be with Lance and to also text me later. He kisses me goodbye and then drives back to Lance's. I watch him leave the driveway and then walk inside and fall asleep.
