Mile's POV
After we all agree to meet on December 27 I call Vanessa. A part of me is hoping that she won't pick up and I can just leave a voicemail, but then another part of me just wants to hear her voice. The phone is ringing until I finally hear her voice.

Vanessa: Miles?

Miles: Hey. I know it's been a while since we talked and hey wasn't really the best phrase to use.

Then we both laugh but it's more of an awkward laughter.

Miles: I just wanted to call and say I don't think I can make it for the volunteering thing that we were supposed to do.

Vanessa: Oh I was actually going to call you to tell you the same thing.

Miles: Well I guess the world just works of on its own then.

Vanessa: Yeah.

Miles: What's wrong? You seem, worried about something.

Vanessa: It's nothing.

Miles: I heard you and Beckett broke up. We can, we can talk about it if you want.

Vanessa: I think it would be a bit weird you know.

Miles: Why would it be weird?

Okay I know exactly why it would be weird.

Vanessa: Well with everything that happened between us I mean.

Miles: I just need to know that you're happy.

Vanessa: What?

Miles: I just need to know that you're happy. That's what I felt when you chose Beckett and that's what I'm feeling now. Let's talk Vanessa.

God this is going to be painful.

Vanessa: Are you sure that you're fine with talking about this?

Miles: Actually I changed my mind.

Vanessa: Really?

Miles: No! Come on I'm kidding, I'm fine with talking about it.

I'm completely NOT fine with talking about this! But I can't tell her that. I just have to suck it up.

Vanessa: Okay well Beckett was completely ghosting on me the whole winter break and then the whole Danessa thing happened. I found out he was training at this beach with a friend, he was just running in the beach. So I confronted him about it and told him the truth about what happened, nothing happened.

Miles: Wait, do you feel anything towards this Daniel guy?

Please say no, please say no.

Vanessa: No! He's just a friend. But Beckett didn't believe that and he said that he didn't want to do this anymore so, we broke up. He's been acting like a complete jerk and I don't know what to do about it.

Miles: You still love him right?

Vanessa: Of course.

That hurt. I know that she loves him but hearing it hurt. I guess sometimes your heart needs time to accept what your mind already knows.

Miles: Wait so why was Beckett training?

Vanessa: For this motorbiking tournament thing.

Miles: So I say, go to the motorbiking tournament. When he sees you there supporting him despite all that happened between you guys, he'll see his mistake of letting a beautiful girl like you go.

Why did I say that!? Ugh now I just made everything awkward! I'm so stupid! Stupid! Stupid! Stupid!

Miles: Here's something that will help you, if you have no regrets then you made the right choice.
