So I started writing a story about The Purge, using Sam, Colby, Kat, Jake, Aaron, and Corey as characters. So I wrote it down on paper and I don't know whether to make it a full book, so I'll give you what I have.
It's the annual Purge. The house is on lockdown. Sam, Jake, Aaron, Kat, and Corey are locked in the master bedroom. The front door, the master bedroom door, and most of the other doors are locked. The windows are boarded, cameras are set up, and there's a speaker set up with a microphone. It was Corey's idea.
The Purge started ten years ago. A whole new set of government officials was elected into office, and they wanted to start the Purge. People don't know whether they're insane, or evil. Maybe they like to see the U.S. fall apart, since it won't affect most of them.
It's about an hour before the Purge starts.
"Are you guys ready?" Sam asks.
"About as ready as I can get," Kat replies.
"I might become a politician just to end this shit," Corey says.
"You have my vote," Aaron replies.
They're all scrolling through Instagram and Twitter. Some people, like Elton and David are going Purging. Out of all the dangerous things the group has done, they would never go purging. It's too much of a risk. The house could get robbed, they could get killed in the process, it was just too risky. They're also a huge target since they live in a mansion.
"So Elton, David, Heath, and Brennen are purging," Sam says.
"They're stupid," Corey says.
They talk for another forty minutes, and in that time it started pouring rain outside. Now it's ten minutes before the Purge. Kat looks up at the monitor.
"Hey guys, look," she says.
Outside there's a boy walking in circles.
"What's he doing," Aaron says.
"Maybe he's a purger,"Corey says.
"I don't know, he looks innocent," Kat says.
"He doesn't look like he has weapons," Sam says.
"Don't let him in," Corey says.
"He looks familiar," Jake says.
"I'm gonna talk to him," Sam says.
"Sam," Aaron says.
Sam picks up the microphone. "Hey." The boy looks at the camera. "Can you come to the door, please, I won't hurt you." The boy points to himself, and Sam says yeah. The boy walks up to the door.
"I'm gonna let him in. Just in case, keep the door locked in case he's a purger," Sam says.
Sam walks out, and Jake locks the door. He opens the front door and the boy just stands there.
"You can come inside," Sam says.
He walks inside and Sam shuts the door and locks all the locks. They start walking upstairs.
"So what's your name? I'm Sam."
The boy turns to the wall and spells it out with his finger. C-O-L-B-Y. Sam just brushed it off as him being shy or nervous.
"Okay Colby, do you need a change of clothes?"
Colby nods. Sam gives him a hoodie and sweatpants. Colby changes and Sam knocks on the room door. They let him and Colby in, and make sure to lock the door.
"Guys, this is Colby. Colby this is Katrina, Jake, Aaron, and Corey."
They all wave and say hi. He waves back. Five more minutes until the Purge. Corey is laying on his bed, and everyone else is on the floor.
"So why were you outside," Kat asks.
Colby didn't say anything.
"That was a little straight forward," Aaron says,"Are you okay?"
He just stares down.
"Why aren't you replying?" Corey asks.
Sam lifts his head up and looks at him," Colby, can you talk," he says slowly.
He shakes his head. At that moment the TV that was turned off, turned itself on.
'' This is your emergency broadcast system announcing the commencement of the Annual Purge sanctioned by the U.S. Government. Weapons of class 4 and lower have been authorized for use during the Purge. All other weapons are restricted. Government officials of ranking 10 have been granted immunity from the Purge and shall not be harmed. Commencing at the siren, any and all crime, including murder, will be legal for 12 continuous hours. Police, fire, and emergency medical services will be unavailable until tomorrow morning until 7 a.m., when The Purge concludes. Blessed be our New Founding Fathers and America, a nation reborn."
The sirens start to play.
"It's on."
"Oh, we're so sorry we interrogated you like that," Aaron says.
"Do you want paper?" Jake asks.
He nods and Jake grabs a few pieces of looseleaf and a marker. He hands it to Colby.
"Okay can you write down why you were out there?" Corey asks.
He nods and writes. 'I heard my parents planning to kill me.'
"You can't be serious, that's fucked up,"Corey says.
"But why did you go and chill outside and not go to a friends house?" Aaron asks.
'I don't have friends.'
"Well we're your friends now," Jake says.
"But if you stayed outside you might've gotten killed," Kat says.
'That doesn't matter to me, it's just that I don't wanna die at the hands of them'
"What doesn't matter?" Sam asks.
'If I die.'
"Don't say that," Kat says.
"Yeah you matter, even if we just met you," Corey says.
The street turns into chaos. Gunshots, screaming, and arguing, but one specific phrase caught their attention.
Well that's what I have. Let me know if I should make it into a book.
