11 - Wishes

Tom POV
As I was working on Joe's cup, I kept thinking about Lily. I freaking spaced out in the middle of asking her order. Looking at her too!
   I've never felt so flustered in my life. The surprising thing was that she stared at me back! Man, I made the situation awkward for us. I didn't get flustered with Joe and Anna because they're normal, but Lily was different.
   "Okay, done with Joe's cup!" I served the said boy his cup of coffee. "Make sure to drink it when it's hot~" He nodded and took a sip. His eyes widened, which made me smile.
   "It's g-good," he mumbled.
   "Of course," I boasted. "You're not gonna say 'thank you'?"
Joe hesitated for a few seconds. "T-thanks Tom."
   "Anytime my bro." I gave him a pat on the head. His face got redder when I did that. "How cute." I said that aloud to see his and everyone else's reactions.
He was steaming in embarrassment. Anna was pouting..? While Lily was spacing out in Joe's direction for some reason.
   "On to Anna's cup!" I went back to work. As I was working on her cup, I thought about her. How her face was when I flirted with her.
It showed that she didn't enjoy it, but inside, I knew that she enjoyed it, I just know. She's just those stubborn types when it comes to things like that I guess.
I've been hanging out with Anna since I moved in Serenity. Anna's like an open book. So is Joe. I don't hang out a lot with him, but he's just easy to read. He's not good at hiding emotions like Lily.
That's another reason why I find Lily so interesting, how she's such a beautiful mystery.
"Done! Here you go Anna."
She took the cup quickly and drank the whole thing in one go.
"It tastes...pretty nice." Anna widened her eyes. What did she expect from me?
"Obviously." I flipped my front bangs sassily. "You can never look down on my coffee."
"Can I get seconds please?" She stood from her seat.
"I promised Brewster that you guys can get a cup for free, not two cups, so...no."
She roughly sat back down on her seat with a pout. "Thanks for the cup though."
"You're welcome~," I flashed a smile. Then I started to work on Lily's coffee. "Now on to Lily's cup!"
Lily gave me a small smile to cheer me on. I smiled back and got to work. That time, I didn't think about anything, I just paid attention making her cup. I surprisingly finished her coffee quicker than the others.
   "Finished! Here you go Lily~"
She blinked in slight shock of how quick I finished it, but she shook it off and smiled.
   "Thank you so much Tom for treating us with coffee," Lily said before she took a sip,"we all should hang out together often."
   We nodded in agreement.
"Hmm..but the next time, we should have Joe invite us to an outing right?" I pointed out.
   "Just what I was thinking," Lily agreed.
   "That wouldn't be a bad idea." Anna also agreed.
Three of us stared at Joe to see what he thought.
   "What do you think Joe?" I stared at him.
He looked like he panicked in the inside from all the attention. Joe took a while to think.
   "S-Sure, maybe we should hang out at the Campground?"
   We gave each other looks and agreed.
   "Around 10 pm?" Anna asked. "The night sky would look great."
   "Yeah I like that." Lily nodded.
   "I agree too." I had to admit that the stars out in the summer is nice. It's also not cloudy or cold. It's a normal and nice feel.
   "It's tomorrow at 10 pm at the Campground?" Joe combined our thoughts.
   "Yup!"
   "Yes."
   "Yeah."
   The four of us promised to meet again tomorrow for another outing, but with Joe's idea. That would be interesting.
   "Since it's 8 pm already, don't you guys think we should head outside?" I took my apron off and handed it to Brewster.
   "W-what are we going to do outside?" Joe turned his head to look at the windows. This boy.
   "I think there'll be a meteor shower, so it wouldn't be bad to go out." Lily got off of her seat.
   "Oh yeah! We should go, the meteor shower is starting! Look!" Anna ran out of her seat and opened the door wide to view the stars.
   Joe and Lily followed Anna to the door and gazed at the sight. I thanked Brewster and jumped over the counter to follow them.
   We all walked toward the picnic blanket we had around the south of Serenity, where it had a nice view of the sky and the ocean.
"We should sit down." Lily patted the blanket. I sat next to Lily, Joe sat next to me, and Anna sat next to Joe.
A peaceful silence filled the air between us. No one said a word, it was so quiet that we could hear the stars sparkle as they fly across the sky.
I took a peek at Lily and her hair was swaying slightly like before.
She was so aesthetic. Her clothes matching the clear and dark yet radiating starry night sky.
I felt like Lily was the actual view I was looking at. Not the stars.
The other two seem to stare at the sky a lot, stealing glances once in a while, and smiling at each other whenever they caught each other looking. What good friends.
When I blinked, I heard a soft thud sound. I turned around to Lily's side and it turned out that she laid down on the blanket, arms out, and staring at the sky.
I did the same, with Joe and Anna doing the same after seeing us do it.
Now we were in a circle, laid down on a blanket, with arms out, enjoying the show.
   I was going to fall asleep almost until Joe spoke. "S-should we make a wish? Since there's a lot of shooting stars?" We all smiled and nodded.
We closed our eyes when we all saw a shooting star, we wished that the dreams we had were going to come true, which was cheesy but hey, it was fun.
