By the time Julia and I reach the frat house, the party is already in full swing. We head inside and Julia immediately makes a beeline for the kitchen, throwing open the fridge and digging around until she finds the liquor that she makes Caleb buy specifically for her during parties.
"Do you want one?" she asks, turning to me and holding up a can. I shake my head.
"No thanks, I'm good." I object. I already know it's best for me to stay sober at these kind of things, considering I don't exactly have the best track record when it comes to being inebriated...
"Suit yourself." she shrugs. "That just means more for me."
Julia tilts her head back and chugs half the drink, letting out a loud burp into my face. She bursts out into laughter, expecting for me to do the same. I just smile, not really in the mood to be here right now or put up with Julia's antics. In fact, the only reason I agreed to come here was to lay it on Sebastian for being a dick and lying to me.
"What's wrong?" she frowns.
"Nothing." I lie. "I just really want to find Sebastian."
"Don't start arguing with him, Helaina." she frowns.
"I'm not!" I yell, a little too quickly and a little too defensively. I shake my head, trying to calm down. "You can do whatever you want Jules, but I'm going to go find him. We really need to talk."
I walk out of the kitchen and head out into the living room before Julia has the chance to intervene and stop me from confronting Sebastian- not that I imagine she would. I push my way past the large groups of college kids drinking, dancing, and grinding on each other and the couples making out against the wall like this is their own private bedroom and not a very public space. I survey the room as I walk, growing more and more agitated as I walk. I don't spot him, but instead, I find a face almost identical to his but on a female body.
"Cara!" I shout.
She and her group of friends look over at me, their conversation stopping. A few of them whisper to each other, but in this moment, I couldn't care less about what others have to think about me. If I don't find Sebastian in the next thirty seconds, I feel like I'm actually going to explode.
"Hey what's up?" she asks, smiling at me.
"Have you seen Sebastian? I really need to talk to him and he should be here." I say.
"Last I saw him he was on the couch with his friends, over there." She points to the direction, and when I look over my shoulder, I immediately spot him.
"Okay, thanks." I nod, walking away.
I practically run over to the group, anxious to get this conversation over with already. As soon as I step foot next to the couch, I practically get second-hand whiplash from all of the heads turning to look at me. I instantly recognize everyone's faces from the first frat parties I attended, back when Sebastian and I were just friends and Shawn Mendes was barely a thought in my head. Back when things were much simpler.
"Helaina! I didn't realize you guys were here already. Where's Julia?" Caleb asks from beside Sebastian.
"I left her in the kitchen with a bottle of alcohol, so you better go get her before someone else do." I say.
"Shit," he curses, standing up and jumping over the couch to head for the kitchen and Julia.
"Long time no see." Piper interjects, smiling cooly at me. I take notice of her hair, which has transitioned from being black with blue tips the last time I saw her to just entirely black now. Her nose is now adorning a septum piercing as well.
