Emma groaned as she rolled over in her bed, the sun light seeping through her curtains hitting her face had woken her up and she wanted nothing more than to go back to sleep. But that seemed inevitable when Elena had cracked open her door and peered into the room. Easily seeing Emma was awake she invited herself in and flopped on the bed next to her sister and placed herself under the covers with her.

"What are you doing?" Emma grunted out as she buried her face deeper into her pillows.

Elena sighed, "Stefan and I broke up" her twin only let out a snort, it wasn't the first time the couple had broken up, and they hadn't even been together for a month. "We also have to go down to the station to give statements."

Emma shot up, "I didn't do anything" she instantly said and through her none visible pain, Elena chuckled at her.

"For Vicky" Elena stated, the older girls name coming out strained as if it pained her.

Of course when Emma came stumbling home the night of the Halloween party, Jeremy had told her that Vicky ditched town, it was actually the first thing he did before helping the girl to bed. Though Emma wasn't in her right mind, she wasn't surprised, It was just like Vicky to go missing for a little and then ditch town, like mother like daughter. But deep down a part of Emma felt bad, not for herself, but for Matt, he was the one who would be affected most by it all.

The eldest twin fell back into her pillows with another sigh, "can we just stay in bed forever? it's safe and nothing bad happens here."

Elena managed to laugh, "No, we have to get ready" she groaned a bit as she pushed herself up and out of her sisters bed. She turned as she was walking out to see Emma curl herslef into a ball. Not daring to move or make any move to get out of bed. "Please, Em, this is hard enough as it is."

Sighing the eldest slowly rose from the bed, "yeah, yeah" she grumbled, swallowing the lump in her throat that she got. Giving a statement meant that Vicky was really gone, and Emma wasn't sure if she actually wanted to believe one of her best friends would just leave her without a goodbye.

><><><

"Where did Vicky say she was going?"

Emma sat across from the towns Sheriff, Caroline's mother, with her body leaned back into the chair and her arms crossed. A tired expression was written on her face, as she let out another sigh. All the talk about Vicky was mkaing her head go crazy, but she knew the quicker she answered the quicker she could get out of there.

With that in mind, Emma shook her head, "She never did"

Nodding the sheriff glanced down to her notes with information that everyone else had told her. Emma found herslef being the last to get questioned about her friends leaving, First it was Jeremy, then Matt, and after him Stefan, then Elena. Basically the only people who had seen her in the past few days or had any contact with her what so ever.

"Do you know if she told her brother where she was going?"

Another shake of her head, "Nope"

Elizabeth sighed, "Matt mention you and Vicky were close friends, did she give any signs showing she was distancing herslef?" She questioned, not preying into what else Matt had told her, "-Like she was hinting of herself leaving..."

Nothing came to mind, Vicky was always Vicky. She was level headed about everything and if she ever did mention leaving to Emma, the girl was probably to out of it to remember. "I don't know, she was up and down" Emma mummbled with what felt like the thousandth sigh, "When there was search party for her she texted me, it was very closed off and a little sketchy. I just figured she was on a binge or whatever."

Sheriff Forbes nodded, "Was there any signs of aggression or violence?" she questioned knowing with drug use a lot of bad things could happen.

"No, none" Emma's answer came out in a whisper, but Sheriff Forbes still managed to catch it. Gathering herslef quickly, Emma shook her head and looked back up and the Forbes women, "Is that all? I have a English paper to write..." She lied smoothly, wanting nothing more than to get out of there and disappear herself.

"Just one more..." the eldest Gilbert sibling pushed herslef up in the chair, ready to answer the question and then leave. "Do you believe that Vicky really has left town?"

The silence that filled the office was a questionable one, after everything that happened, did Emma believe another person she cared about had left her? Granted the first two people that left her- her parents- didn't really have a say in the matter of their untimely and mourned deaths. Vicky knew how much pain Emma was in after their deaths, and she knew how much the girl would kill just to say goodbye. So the thought of Vicky leaving without doing so much as uttering or even texting her that word, meant something more than anyone can ever understand.

So with that racing through her head, Emma Causley shook her head, "No" she utter, not realizing she was the first person to say that. But she didn't wait for sheriff Forbes to ask her why she thought that or even wait to see her expression, she got up and left the private office adn wandered over to where her sibling's and aunt Jenna were.

"I'm done, lets go!" she said as if she wasn't phased by any of what had just happened.

Jeremy shook his head at his eldest sister and began mkaing his way towards the exit of the sheriffs station. The three females following suite, Elene staying quiet as she held her jacket closely to her and Jenna glancing wearingly at Emma.

"are you okay?" She asked, thing between the Aunt and Niece were perfectly fine, but they weren't as close as they once were. No one was really close with Emma anymore. Tyler and her weren't friends anymore, Vicky was gone, Jeremy was doing his own thing, Elena was keeping secrets. Thing really have changed.

Emma pursed her lips as the doors to the station swung closed behind them, "Why, wouldn't I be?" she questioned as if she actually really was fine.

Before Jenna could even respond, Elena spoke up, "I'll meet you guys at the car..." her eyes trained on the boy who stood on the sidewalk. Stefan Salvatore. The two nodded letting the couple- well ex couple- speak and made their way to catch up to Jeremy who was already patiently waited by Jenna's black SUV.

Emma's rolled her eyes seeing how upset Elena looked when she left Stefan's side, she loved her sister but she never understood why she was moping around over a guy she had dated for barley a month. Not to mention how her once lock sick little brother was acting like everything was okay with Vicky 'leaving' and how are aunt was upset about a guy who blew his second chance that he didn't deserved.

Elena clearly saw the disappointed look her twin gave her and she furrowed her brows in confusions, "What?" she asked lowly feeling slightly uneasy had she known what really happened to her sisters friend.

The eldest twin just shrugged, "Nothing" she wasn't in the mood to lecture. So with a sigh she got in the SUV and joined her little brother in pretending everything was okay.

Crappy chapter but eh

Sorry I've missed a few updates; I somehow managed to get myself Bronchitis and I've just been too exhausted  to do anything. But today I was feeling better and I scrapped this together for you guys.
