"Wake up, sleepy head, we are here," Said my dad shaking me vigorously.
Rubbing my eyes and observing my surroundings, I saw rows of identical, red brick town houses. I stepped groggily out of the car and felt the smooth bitumen road under my worn out converse.
"Stop dawdling and help me unload the smaller boxes,"
Grasping ahold of a rather heavy cardboard box, I began to take it to the front door when...
Holy. Moly.
Barely dropping what was in my arms I gawk at what I saw ten metres away from me.
The hottest guy I had ever seen in my life stepped out of a blue Mazda. He gracefully flicked his brunette bangs out of his eyes which gave me a good look at his eyes. They were a bright mysterious green. It was as if his eyes contained secrets.
It was as if time had suddenly stopped and everything had froze. Butterflies were having a spas-attack in my stomach.
Before I started drooling, my brain snapped back into action and I realised the reality. Crushes were overrated. I can't fall for this guy I've never met before. He could be a Samson clone for all I know.
I didn't want to look like a weirdo (even though I really was) so I continued carrying the box to the front door and struggled to open the door.
Eventually all the decent sized boxes were in the house. My dad called a couple of his mates to help load the bigger items into the new house. Our new house had a small concrete porch with a mini swing couch. Fake pot plants hung from the ceiling and fairy lights were strung from one wooden post to another. The front door was thick and wooden.
By the time it was dark, all the boxes were scattered in the living room. The new house was slightly more spacious than the last house. Clean tiled floor, moderately polished cream coloured walls and large windows that weren't filthy.
Remembering the date, it dawned on me that I had school tomorrow. The enrolment forms had already been completed as well as being given a timetable for my classes.
Summer break has ended, now I have to face grade eleven. Just great. New teachers, new students, new subjects - everything is just...new.
Doubts and unanswerable questions swirled around my brain like a witch mixing her potion in a cauldron. Negative thoughts sprouted and started to grow.
Then, an image of that attractive boy popped up. Argh! I've had enough of boys. They play with your head. Blind you by charm. Treat you like dirt. There was no way that I was going to fall for that beautiful, gorgeous, jaw dropping...ugh!
Tiredness swept over me from my big day of moving. I crashed on my mattress which was on the floor in my empty bedroom.
I couldn't be bothered unwrapping my bed frame from the bubble wrap and placing it in my room. That requires effort. Something I didn't contain.
That night, I barely slept a wink, scared about my first day of school...at Carter Park High.
From the Author: Do you think that Sharna will ultimately fall for this boy? Carter Park High will be quite an adventure. I will be introducing heaps of new characters soon. So stay tuned! This is a short note from me but that's ok 😂. Love you guys❤️
