Sharna P.O.V.
I was hanging my washing on the line out the front when I heard a familiar voice from behind me.
It was Carson.
"Oh, hey Carson," why can't I stop blushing?!
"Yo Sharna, my dad gave me this to give to you," he handed me a folded up note in his strong, hand. Why am I concentrating on his hand? Ugh.
"Thanks..." I grasped the note and shoved it in my pocket. Was it petty to hope that he had actually written me a love letter?
I pegged the last piece of clothing on the line so Carson and I stared awkwardly at each other.
"I don't know about you, but I am so intrigued to see what is on that note,"
My heart skipped a beat.
I unfolded the note, he read it over my shoulder. I'm still blushing.
Third Avenue, Figtree Bay, Philadelphia.
Help me.
Lillian CameronI dropped the note, gasping.
This can't be possible.
My mum is dead. Isn't she?
"Shaz, calm down, what's wrong?" Carson's green eyes flashed with concern. I melted.
"My..my.. m..mum died wh..when I was s..seven," I said stammering.
"Well, she sure doesn't sound dead if she wrote you a note. That name does sound familiar though...I feel like I've heard my mum say that name before..."

Flash Back
"Dear, have you cleaned your room? We're having guests over today. My best friend from high school, Olivia, is coming over. She has a son who you can play with, his name is Carson," said Lillian.
***
Oh gosh.
"Is there a chance that your mums name is Olivia?" I asked.
Carson froze.
"Yeah,"
Carson and I were friends ten years ago!
Memories flooded back into my memory like a bottle being washed up on a beach. I remembered Olivia and Carson coming over to our house on rare occasions, when their family was on holidays near our neighbourhood. She had her left leg amputated so she used crutches.
Noticing by the look of Carson's face, he was for sure revisiting those memories.
"Carson, my mum is in danger, I need to save her,"
"By yourself? Dude, you're not Wonder Woman,"
I flinched at the word 'dude', but I had to let that slide past me, we are friends. Nothing more - and I definitely DO NOT have a crush on him...
"Sharna, I think it's best that I go with you. Are you going to tell your dad?" Carson's brows knitted together with concern.
It was cute.
But enough of that.
"No, I can't. Firstly, my dad won't believe me and secondly, my dad wouldn't let me go wandering off to save my mum under his dead body,"
I had to do this undercover. I needed a plan.
"What if...you say to your dad that you are going on a trip with your friends, when really you are saving your mum?"
Carson was a genius.
"We need some supplies, a rescue mission requires tools," he said seriously.
I couldn't help but smile. He acted like he was running a military camp.
The sun started to sink into the hills in the distance. The sky displayed a pink and orange watercolour - like appearance.
It was also starting to get dark.
"I should probably head back inside now, it was nice chatting with you," I picked up my basket and was about to head inside when;
"Tomorrow is a weekend, why don't you come over so we can plan out our mission?" Carson winked at me.
Don't blush, Sharna, don't blush.
Going over to Carson's house? The butterflies started doing somersaults again. They should really try out for the circus, instead of practising in my stomach every time Carson talked or even looked at me.
"Yeah," i gulped. "Sure."
