The picture on the top will change throughout the story depending on how Celestia looks like. But since this chapter is about Athena, it will be Athena.
Athena raced through the halls of Mount Olympus.
"Athena! Wait!" Yelled her sister, Artemis. But Athena didn't hear her. Desperate, she hurried to the throne room where her father, Zeus was.
Tears began to form in the goddess of wisdom's eyes. She felt sorry for herself, hated herself, hated the world. Emotions were jumbled up inside her, big and strong. Athena didn't let her emotions leak through often. She was the goddess of wisdom, after all, she relied more on strategy. But she was also human, more or less. Athen knew the truth - gods are more like humans then they thought. Actually, all gods knew this. But they refused to admit it. Gods were like that; Proud and refusing to admit their faults.
I shouldn't have done that, I shouldn't have done that! She kept on thinking. Love had blinded her, but he had been unable to resist! Ugh. Athena thought. Now she was part of one of Aphrodite's love stories.
For years, Athena had not cared about boys. Eh. She would think, as pretty much all of the gods and goddesses around her fell in love with mortals. Even Artemis found Orion. I don't care. Whatever. This caused mortals to remember her as a virgin, a maiden goddess. In truth, she just never really cared.
Until now.
She had seen him. He had been perfect. Smart, clever, brave.... everything a goddess of wisdom loves. She had tried her best to turn away, but nothing had worked. So she eventually joined him on earth.
Then Athena had had Celestia.
Then, only then, had she realized her mistake.
Hera.
There had always been tension between the goddess of the heavens and the goddess of wisdom. Hera had wanted to be Zeus's first wife, yet Athena's mother, Metis, had been Hera's first wife. So Hera had naturally hated Athena. In fact, Hurricane Katrina had been caused when Hera and Athena had a water-gun-fight ( long story) So.... back to the topic...
Athena immediately remembered: Hera. So her daughter, Celestia, was in grave danger. Hera would surely try to make her daughter's life miserable. She had done it before to Zeus's lovers before. Athena had no intention of having her daughter grow up in pain, on the run from Hera. So Athena created a plan.
It was a simple, yet effective one, and Athena was sure it would work. But for it to work, Zeus had to help.
Finally, the two sisters reached the throne room. Athena shoved it open.
"I need your help." Athena cried, racing to her father.
"What is it?" asked Zeus, frowning.
Athena explained. Everything. From falling in love with him to realizing her mistake.
"I see.." said Zeus. "so... how can I help?" Athena was so desperate to save her daughter that she wasn't even annoyed at her father.
"An island," she said. "An island that Celestia lives on. Dryads, whatever, I don't know can take care of her. As she gets older and she can take care of herself, then she won't need them anymore. I don't want to cause suspicion."
"Alright." said Zeus. "hm... we need help.... Someone to create the island.... Someone to make sure Hera doesn't find the island.."
"I believe I can help." said a voice. Athena nearly jumped a mile. Then Athena turned around. Standing there was Hecate.
"Hecate!" The goddess of wisdom cried.
"Don't try to hide it from me. I'm the goddess of magic. I know a lot of things." Hecate said. "I can provide protection." Too stunned to speak, Athena simply murmured something that felt like: ok...
"I can help create a forest at the island. Everybody needs a little wildlife." said Artemis, finally speaking. Athena felt a rush of affection for her sister. She was happy that she had stayed with her all along. She knew that she could always count on the goddess of the moon.
"What will we name the island?" asked Zeus. after a lot of thinking, Athena said:
"Preasidio. I think its perfect. After all, it means protect in Latin." Zeus nodded.
"Then we better start creating it."
"And wait." said Athena. "I want to have everyone's word that you won't tell anybody. Do you all swear on the River Styx that you will not tell a single person about this?" Athena asked. She trusted her father, sister, and Hecate but still wanted to be sure.
There was a chorus of "I swear"s
"Good." said Athena.
"Athena," Zeus said. "I will help you under one condition: that one of my daughters, Natalie, can stay in Preasidio as well." Athena nodded. Being alone in Preasidio wouldn't be very fun, after all. She imagined that it would be a little lonely.
"And also," said Athena. "I want Celestia to become immortal. No, a goddess."
"A goddess?" asked Zeus. He seemed to be in deep thought for a bit. "Fine. She may become a goddess. But a goddess of what?"
After a moment Athena said: "Knowledge." Zeus smiled.
"Perfect." he said.
The goddess of wisdom smiled, knowing that everything would be perfect. Her daughter would be safe. Everything was going to work out. Little did Athena know, that about 12 years later, she was going to be proved wrong. Very wrong. Her daughter was going to face great dangers, as well as a goddess' fury. And not just any goddess' fury.
The fury of Hera herself.
