To Hell and Back

Faye had told Emily of her father's addiction to gambling and alcohol. She saw the man he would become, and she never wanted to see that man again.

"If you need to, you can just come home with me and chill. It wouldn't be a problem. My parents are out of town and are coming back tomorrow." Emily said as the bell rang to go to class. Faye nodded her head, she needed time away from home. She was always either at school, work, or her house. The only time she ever out was if she doing something with Emily, which did not happen often. Faye pulled out her phone and texted her father.

Going home with Emily today. We're just going to chill. I should be home around six-ish. Love you. -Faye.

She put her phone back in her pocket and headed towards her Spanish class. Great way to begin a morning, speaking in another language when I can barely understand English right now. Faye thought to herself. She walked through the door and her teacher threw a soft, foam football at her. Faye, caught off guard, fumbled the ball between her hands before dropping it. She bent down to pick it up as her teacher began screaming.

"BUTTERFINGER FAYE! ¿Cómo estás?" He asked as Faye handed back the football. Faye shrugged her shoulders and sat down. As class began, her teacher started to sound more and more like the teacher off of Charlie Brown. She droned him out and started drawing in her sketchbook. She was so consumed by her drawing that she didn't know that the class had ended. She had to run to the chorus room to make sure that she made it to class on time. The chorus teacher handed out the new song that they were learning for their upcoming concert. To Faye's surprise the teacher had selected Hey Jude, which was Faye's favorite song by The Beatles. She felt instant happiness over this, although the others mumbled and complained about how it was an old song and that they didn't want to do it.

The school day seemed to pass by faster than usual and Faye soon found herself heading home with Emily. She hopped in Emily's car as Emily started the engine. The radio was blasting Alive by Adelitas Way. Faye immediately blasted the song, and people started to give both Emily and Faye weird looks. Emily pulled out of her parking spot and headed towards her house. As she pulled in her driveway, they saw her brother's bus stop at the usual spot. He quickly got off it and ran towards Faye as she got out of the car. He latched his arms around her waist.

"FAYE! I MISSED YOU!" He screams. Someone who isn't my best friend misses me, that's a surprise. Faye thought to herself. She hated the way the negative thoughts just came to her, but she couldn't control it.

"I missed you too Malachi." Faye said as she patted the fifth graders head. They all headed inside the house and grabbed something to eat, since none of them eat school lunch. Faye and Emily ended up watching scary movies. At the end of Sinister, Faye's phone buzzed with life. It was a text from her father.

It's almost six. Please come home. We need to talk. I love you. -Dad.

"You mean you already have to go?" Malachi asked as he started to make a puppy dog face.

"Yes, but I'll be back tomorrow, Malachi. Don't worry." Faye said as she, Emily and Malachi headed to the car. The engine roared to life, and Faye was home in seconds. She took the main entrance to the building and saw a familiar face. It was an exact look a like to Jake Pitts from Black Veil Brides. Faye shook her head. Calm down Faye, you're imagining things. The concert is in two days. She immediately headed up the stairs, but she heard the guy say something.

"Cool shirt. Are you going to their concert tomorrow?" The guy asked. Don't talk to strangers, Faye. He could be some creepy stalker guy. Her conscience whispered inside her mind.

"Thanks, and yes I am. They're one of my favorite bands and I even get to meet them. Are you going?" Faye asked, making polite conversation before heading to her apartment. The guy let out a soft snicker.

"I guess you could say that. Who's your favorite member?" The guy asked. Why is he asking me this? Does it really matter? Oh wait, he could think I'm just one of those girls who only cares about Andy. Faye thought to herself.

"Well, I love them all and believe that they all have amazing talent, but Jake pretty much takes the spot. He seems like a good guy. Well, I got to go. It was nice talking to you." Faye said as she headed up the stairs.

"Huh, someone actually likes me." The guy, Jake, said as he let out another slight snicker and headed up to his apartment number.

"Faye, I'm sorry that I failed you. I've been lying to you for a while now. I have still been drinking. I haven't given it up, as for gambling. I sneaked around your back and would do it when you weren't around." Her father said. Faye could practically smell the beer on him.

"Dad, you're drunk now. Why did you lie to me? I could have gone and gotten you help." Faye said.

"I don't need a therapist taking a hundred dollars out of my pocket for telling me something that I already know. I know I have a problem and I'm trying my best to fix it!" Her father screamed. He usually developed a temper after the first few drinks.

"But you do, dad! You can't see it, but I can. You're intoxicated off your butt right now!" Faye screamed back. This threw her father over the edge and he threw a vase at her. It hit her arm and broke into pieces. She could feel the shards scrape across her shoulder. She ran to her room and locked her door. She couldn't handle her father when he was like this. She wrapped cleaned her cuts, and wrapped gauze around them before changing into more comfortable clothes. She wound up crying herself to sleep that night.
