Please, God, don't let him be drunk. Faye thought to herself. She did not want to invade Jake's personal space and take over his apartment. The early morning air was filled with the slight smell of flowers. Faye quickly walked up to her apartment and the horrible odor of alcohol could be smelled from outside the door. Faye hesitantly opened the door and walked inside the apartment. Things flew by her on the side and her father was yelling incoherently.
"You little whore. Out there, probably catching all sorts of sexual diseases. You're worthless." Her father said as he threw one of the coasters right by Faye's ear. Faye quickly grabbed herself some pajamas and her cat. She ran down to Jake's apartment and found the key under the place mat.
Hey, looks like I'm temporarily sleeping in your apartment. I'll be on the couch with my cat. -Faye.
Faye was scared for her life. She could not return back to her apartment for at least a week. She opened one of the closets and to her luck it had one extra blanket. She moved one of the extra pillows to the chair and quietly laid down. She fell asleep as soon as her head hit the pillow.

Jake's heart jumped as he felt his phone buzz in his pocket. He was not surprised when the text came from Faye. He shook his head in disbelief. Some people just should not be parents. Especially with someone as bad as her father. Faye is wonderful. Jake thought to himself.
"Faye's wonderful, huh?" Ashley asked as he nudged Jake with his elbow. Did I really say that out loud? Jake shook his head. His thoughts were leaving. This girl had him so distracted that he could not even control his own brain.
"Yeah, hey listen. I'm gonna go down to my apartment to check on things. I'll be back in the morning. " Jake said as he got off the bus. He hopped into a taxi and told the man where to go. Once he arrived at the apartments, Jake payed the fee and ran inside his apartment. He saw Faye sleeping soundly on the couch, and he let out a sigh. All of a sudden, Faye screamed a hair raising scream. Jake immediately ran to her side and tried to wake her.
"Faye, Faye wake up. It's okay. It's just a dream sweetheart." Jake said as he slightly shook Faye awake. Once Faye opened her piercing blue eyes, Jake wrapped his arms around her.
"You're the most gorgeous nightmare I've ever had." Faye said, with her eyes still heavy with sleep. Jake held her in his arms until Faye fell back asleep. I will always protect you. Jake said with a slight whisper, as he too fell asleep.
