Wildest Dreams

"Thank you both for being here tonight." Hunter hugged his parents as we headed out downtown to get ready for the award show, I hugged them also.

"We appreciate it. Dinner is in the fridge, bed is eight thirty, they can each pick a story to read with you." I hugged each of the kids and headed out the door with Hunter. We got into hair, make up and wardrobe before heading to the red carpet, hand in hand. We were ushered to our seats after taking several hundred pictures. The award show was being hosted by Sugarland and the show dove right into performances from Dustin Lynch, FGL and Michael Ray. The categories I had my eyes on were being announced. I held my breath as Thomas Rhett and Kane Brown announced the female vocalist award.

"We are in a room full of strong, talented women," Kane started, "and these are the incredible, strong and talented nominees for female vocalist. Jenna Hayes, Cassadee Pope, Rae-Lynn, Lindsay Ell and Mackenzie Porter." He passed the envelope to Thomas.

"The winner for female vocalist of the year is.." he said fighting with the envelope and pausing to read it, "Jenna Hayes!" I jumped to my feet and embraced Hunter in a hug and kiss before gliding down the aisle to receive my award. I hugged both of them and accepted the award. I took a deep breath before starting my speech, overwhelmed by emotion.

"Thank you to everyone who supported me, Hunter, my babies Sutton, Easton and Beckett, my family for their ongoing support all the way from Toronto. The fans - the ones who buy the music, go to the shows.... Thank you all so much. God bless!" I walked backstage with Kane and Thomas, making my way back to my seat. I swept up the Single of the Year for Everything,  but lost Album of the Year and Musical Event category to some amazing and deserving artists.

I stood backstage on the red carpet, my arms cradling my awards, a smile plastered on my face, as well as Hunter's. The night winded down and we arrived back home to find Lynette and Leo, thanking them again for their time and they congratulated me on my wins.

"I'm so incredibly proud of you Jenna," he kissed my cheek, "you're a super woman."

"Thank you babe. All of this is because of you." I kissed him, slowly unbuttoning his dress shirt, "Honestly, I'm living out my wildest dreams, thank you." His hands rested on my arms and he kissed me slowly. Knees weak, heart racing.
