"Yeah, I will be there," I said scratching down details on a notepad, "umm not entirely sure but we will talk about it. Yes he's at work. No, he's just in the city today, I don't know. We will figure it out - I've gotta go get the kids. Give everyone hugs for me. I'll email you or something later okay? Yes, you too, bye." I closed my phone and put it down on the counter, before texting Hunter I took a deep breath. My mom just rambled on for twenty minutes about funeral details for Jon's father and how it would be 'appreciated if I could fly up for a few days to support Ali and Jon'. I looked at the time and packed Beckett up to go pick up Easton and Sutton from school.
"Mommy, my school is doing a winter concert!" She told me all about it and how the class was getting ready for the winter season.
"That sounds lovely Sutton. Easton - is your class doing anything special?" He shrugged, and told me his class didn't do anything special yet. It was the end of November and these past few months have been zooming by; between our school routine, the success of the award shows to the boys birthdays - it's been a rush. Shortly after I got dinner on the table and the kids situated, Hunter came home from work. He looked tired, like something was wearing on his mind. I handed him a plate, kissed his temple and sat down beside him. Sutton filled the table with conversation about the winter show and Easton talked about a special guest that came to the JK and SK classes. Beckett got a few words in between but he was content listening to his siblings ramble. Hunter and I tag teamed baths and stories, got everyone tucked in and finally got to take some time for ourselves.
"You look like something is on your mind," I started, massaging his shoulders, "what's going on?"
"Work stuff." He took a deep breath before unloading his thoughts. He put together a six week tour for himself and the was offered another tour - four weeks - to piggy back on to.
"That's all really great Hunter. I am so glad you're getting back into touring" I paused my massage to wrap my arms around him and kissed his cheek, "I do have one hiccup this weekend and I was hoping you could pull some strings for me."
"What's wrong?" He turned to face me, and I told him how my mom said I should be going to Jon's father's funeral because it's been so stressful between Alex and then his dad's sudden passing.
"I feel like she has forgotten that thanks to us, we've tried help to alleviate some of that stress," I shook my head, "whenever I was in trouble or had a struggle, my parents brushed it off. Now that something is happening to Ali the whole world has to bend backwards to help her." I bit my lips Hunter held my hands.
"Jenna, sweetie," he lifted up my chin to meet his gaze, "do you want to go to the funeral?" I told him I felt like I should and it would be a good opportunity to check in on Alex. Hunter gave me his two cents and encouraged me to do what I thought would be best.
"I would leave Friday and be back Monday." He nodded, "What if I take Becks with me?"
"That would be doable for sure." I kissed him, thanking him for his listening ear.
I turned my focus into his good news. "So, you doing your own tour is awesome, I love it," I cuddled up closer to him, "but who did you get piggy backed on to?
A cheesy smile broke across his face, "Garth Brooks."
"That's amazing," I kissed him, "so you're obviously doing it." His eyes sparkled and he nodded. He leaned in for a kiss, holding me close and one thing lead to another, more touching, less clothes.
