The Winter Mountains

The Winter Mountains. Don't let its beauty fool you. Its the coldest place in all of Amouroma. Where people suffer and freeze to death. Where people have to travel long ways just to get food to survive off of.

Hey, my name is Andrea Simmone. I'm nineteen as of this morning. But I don't like to think of August 25th as the day that I was born or the day that I get to celebrate my aging and life on this planet. No; August 25th is the day that my father Stanley Simmons was taken away by King Keith Sr. and his infuriating guards. The day that my family was moved from Spring Meadow and into the bitter winter.

We had to start our own business. My mother, sister, and I make clothes and shoes. And my little brothers Jahi, Tyler, and Caleb like to build and repair stuff for other people. They were only thirteen going on fourteen. But they attended workshop classes that we snuck them into.

We may live in the Winter Mountains, but we have friends connections with the other Season Villages. My dad was best friends with the Smith family. They lived in Autumn Fields. Mr. Smith had a workshop school for boys. And we got the boys in when they were five. They finally left it seven years later and started helping build and repair things for the people of Winter Mountain. Then we get paid and trade with other Season Villages to get what we need.

The morning my dad was taken away, we were moved into a cabin in the middle of the mountain. It was enough space for all six of us but sometime not enough of food.

So we didn't really eat every single day but no one ever complained

School wasn't that hard either. There were three big buildings about a miles walk away from the main village where kids of different ages went to school. Since I graduated about a year ago, I get to help my ma get food and make business for our family.

She hates when I complain about going to school. But I think she's so obsessed with my need to be smart. I'm already smart enough. And being smart isn't going to get you anywhere here. You have to have skill to survive. And I was wasting my time going to school for eight hours instead of helping out.

But I digress. What's the point of complaining right now when I'm already out of school and get to help my ma out finally.
