"Are you serious about this?" I ask Keith as we step into the carriage he ordered. He nods sliding in the seat beside me, someone closing the door behind us. "I want to be there with you when your Mother most likely flips out when you tell her what happened today." He replies, dusting off his robe before taking it off and placing it on the ground.

"What are you doing?" I ask picking up the robe. I place it on the empty seat beside me.

"I don't need to put on the robe it's much too hot."

"But it costs too much. I could sell this if you don't want it." I shrug. He laughs shaking his head. "You do anything for your family."

"You are smarter than you look."

"I'm going to take that as a compliment."

"Your friend seems nice."

"Oh you mean Ryan?"

"Yeah...her."

"Well you don't exactly sound too fond of her now. I don't get it. You both were enemies and then friends and then enemies again."

"Don't take this to offense pretty boy but the only enemy I have right now is your father."

"Why?"

"Because I know what he's done."

"Which you still haven't fully told me. I'd like to help."

"It's nothing you could do right now."

"I could do anything right now. I may not have full power over this whole Kingdom but I still am second in command. And I want to see my Kingdom."

"I get that." I nod as the carriage stops. I get out immediately and walk to the door. I look to my right and see my mother sitting in a rocking chair, slowly rocking herself back and forth. The creaking was loud and rang through the neighborhood as the loudest echo.

"Momma?"

She looks up. "What is he doing with you?" She asks nodding her head towards to Keith who kept his distance, staying more than far away.

"We don't have to social distance ourselves Keith, you can come closer." I motion for him to take a couple of step which he gently declines by raising a hand and bowing his head. "I think that I'll be alright."

"And where have you been the whole day? And where are my sons? And where's Elijah?"

"What do you mean where Elijah he hasn't gone anywhere. He didn't come with us today to look for the boys."

"They went missing? How could you let them out of your sight?"

"They went off with their friends. They'd didn't go far and then next thing I know they were captured by the guards. I don't know anything about Elijah being missing and-

"Where are my kids now?"

"I- I'm guessing-

"You're guessing?" She hissed.

"They're in a holding cell. Along with your daughter Keana Simmons and your husband Stanley Simmons." Keith answered. I froze. "You didn't tell me this."

"Of course he didn't. They don't let you in on anything around here. There's nothing but secrets in the palace." Ma says. I fold my arms and turn fully to Keith. "Your Dad. He said I could work off my family's sentence. That I could free them."

"Work off? How?"

"I volunteered to join the guard. I'm going to train with him. The King says when he says progress he'll free our family. I took the offer."
