Mike's POV

Steve, Nancy, Lucas, Dustin, Hopper, and I sat in the waiting room, most of them asleep. We hadn't heard anything about Will or Y/N. Then a nurse walked in.

"He's awake," she said. I woke up Dustin and Lucas. We followed her to his and Y/N's room.

"Will," I exclaimed as I entered the room. Then Dustin and Lucas and I started ranting about a lot of things that happened.

"Wait, where's Y/N," Will asked worriedly. Nobody said anything. "Jonathan, where is she?"

My face turned into a frown. "Over there," I said and pointed to the bed next to his.

His eyes went wide. "What happened? Is she okay?"

"She's on life support," Joyce replied. "Has been since she got here."

"What happened to her?"

I walked over to her bed and sat in the chair next to her bed. "She saved me. The monster that took you lashed out at me and she pushed me out of the way, the claws went into her chest."

"Wait, what?"

"I couldn't believe it either."

"Um, if you wouldn't mind," Jonathan asked, "I need to talk to Will for a second. Mike, you might want to hear this too."

"Are you alright if we step out for a second," Joyce asked.

"Go ahead, mom. I'll be fine," Will replied. His mom nodded before walking out, Lucas and Dustin following. "What's up?"

"She told us," Jonathan stated.

"Told you what?"

"Her secret."

"I have no idea what you're talking about."

"Drop the bullshit," I demanded. "How could you not tell us that she has depression?"

"Look, it isn't like I had a choice. I am her twin and I keep every promise that I make. I made a promise to keep every secret unless I couldn't do anything. As it is, she doesn't trust many people, and if I broke any promises, I would lose her trust. I wasn't going to risk that."

"Do you want to know what she said to me before she passed out? She said that she loved me. I feel like such an asshole because I had just kissed Eleven."

"You did what?" Jonathan and Will both asked in sync.

"I feel like even more of an asshole for not realizing that I like her as well as I liked Eleven."

*Flashback*

"I love you..." her eyes slowly closed.

"No, Y/N. Don't give up on me." I covered the wound with my jacket as best I could. "Please, don't leave me. I want to be with you."

*End Flashback*

I ran a hand through my hair. "On top of that, I'd just told Nancy that I didn't like either of them when I liked both."

"So you mean to tell me that my sister who risked her life to save yours, watched as you kissed another girl, the other girl disappeared, and you want to go out with my sister?" Jonathan asked.

"Yeah. Pretty much."

"Mike, talking as your friend it isn't the best idea to hurt my sister," Will said softly. The he grabbed my shirt and pulled me close. "Now, talking as the good brother that I am, if you hurt her, we hurt you."

I put my hands up in surrender. "Message received." He let go of my shirt and I pulled away. "Man, I didn't realize that you had such a strong side."

"I'm over protective."

3 Months Later

Will and I were walking from the cafeteria back to Y/N's room when we saw people in her room. They weren't there when we left.

"Mom, Jonathan, what's going on?" Will asked as we walked over to them. Joyce was crying and Jonathan looked anxious.

Joyce looked at us. "You two should go back to the cafeteria."

"No. What's going on?"

"We're ready," a doctor said as he came out of the room. "When we remove the breathing tube, she either will or won't start breathing on her own. If she doesn't there isn't anything we can do." He walked back into the room.

"You're taking her off of life support?" I yelled. "What?"

"It's for the best," Jonathan stated. "I don't like it any more than you do, but..."

I shook my head. "No. No!" As if Will had read my mind, we started to run into the room to try to stop it, only to be caught by Jonathan and Joyce. "Let me go! You can't do this!"

Just calm down, Mike. Just calm down," Jonathan said as he held me. "She could live through this. Just wait and see." I stopped fighting against him.

The doctor came running out of her room with a smile. "She's breathing."
