Trigger warning
--

Jihoon is now a famous song writer and producer. He is well known worldwide and has 3 albums out. The public knows about Soonyoung, and they support their relationship.

Soonyoung is now working at a children's mental hospital, and loves his job. He's reunited with a lot of his old friends, and so has Jihoon. They still haven't gotten a puppy or a kitten, but they have each other, so everything is good. Or rather, was good.

--

It was a completely normal day for the both of them. Other than the fact that Jihoon had no idea what to write for his next song that needed to be done by the end of the week. Which was in 3 days. He had been up all night at his desk trying to think, and eventually fell asleep at around 3am. Soonyoung woke up a couple hours later to go to work and let him be, giving him a simple kiss on the cheek as a good morning. He headed downstairs for a quick breakfast and called a "See you soon Jihoonie! I'll be back!" Before closing the door. Jihoon was still asleep and snoring on his desk.

Some 5 hours later, he finally woke up. He expected to find that Soonyoung wasn't home; he knew that his husband usually left for work early in the morning.
"He should be the famous one, not me," he murmured to no one as he walked downstairs trying not to trip. He just happened to glance at the clock.
"How the hell is it noon already, I swear you time travel when you sleep." At that moment, his phone rang on the coffee table. He didn't recognise the caller ID, so he rejected the call, thinking that it was probably some salesperson. But the phone rang again, and it was the same number. Yet again, Jihoon rejected the call. Only on the third go did he decide to answer it. An unfamiliar voice was at the other end.
"Hello? Is this Lee Jihoon?"
"Er yes. What do you want?"
"Hi, I'm your husband Soonyoung's collegue."
"Okay then? Why are you calling? If Soonyoung needed to tell me something he could've just done it himself. Also why should I trust you?"
"Just gonna cut to the chase- one of the kids here who literally came in this morning with what the doctors says is 'insanity'...hmmm how should I say this not bluntly..."
"Just say it already I don't have time for this."
"The kid got hold of a knife from the kitchen and stabbed Soonyoung. There were witnesses even. We've got them under control but-"
"I'm sorry repeat that again? How do I know this isn't some sort of prank?"
"Fine, I'll get the head of the department to call you." And the caller hung up.

Jihoon didn't think much of the phone call. He was convinced that it was all a prank Soonyoung set him up with, and that he was going to walk through the front door any minute, perfectly fine. But 6pm came. The time Soonyoung usually arrived back. Then 7pm. Still no sign of him. Jihoon sat back and thought "He must be working overtime or something then. I'm sure he's doing a good job." He flicked on the TV and scrolled through the channels to the news. He hadn't caught up on the news in a while.

To his shock, Soonyoung was on the screen. And not alive.
"Worker at the local children's mental hospital, Kwon Soonyoung, was stabbed to death by a new patient at the hospital at approximately 11 30am today. Details are still being collected by police, staff and witnesses. The story so far was that Kwon was accompanying the patient to his next appointment and happened to pass by the kitchen.
Kwon Soonyoung was a fairly well known-" and Jihoon threw the remote so far that the TV screen turned to static.

Not thinking straight anymore, Jihoon ran upstairs to the bedroom, and opened up his bedside drawer. It was where he kept the musical box Soonyoung gave him. Whenever he was having an anxiety attack, he would wind it up and watch it for hours on end. Sometimes with Soonyoung. But those times were gone now.

At that point, Jihoon's phone was vibrating like crazy and he had several missed calls, probably from the hospital. He was guessing that the news had spread on twitter like wildfire. Unbothered, he grabbed his phone and threw it across the room. At this point in time, nothing mattered.

The musical box sang its soft soothing melody to Jihoon, but it still didn't calm him down, even after at least 4 rounds of winding up. He was breaking down in tears, just as the news sank in. "He's dead now. You'll never see him again." In a fit of rage, he punched the musical box, and even though it hurt his knuckles, it collapsed, and it stopped playing. He was starting to get a headache, and chest pains as the tears wouldn't stop. He was finding it hard to breathe. But did that matter to him? No.

The next thing he knew, Jihoon had collapsed, just like the musical box. And stopped breathing.

"Famous song writer and producer Lee Jihoon, was found dead in his apartment that he shared with Kwon Soonyoung, just 2 hours after his husband was reported to be dead. Medics suspect that the stress and shock brought on caused Jihoon to have a heart attack. No weapons or traces of other people other than Kwon were found anywhere near him. And that's the latest news."
