They say the days go by fast when your having fun. Well not for me. It was one week later and the whole family was sitting in the airplane which was heading to Las Vegas. Ayden called me many times the week before but I didn't answer any of his calls. I was so pissed! He had sent a text saying that he was sad that I didn't come to the party. He didn't even look for me! Ok well, I didn't want to think about it. This was a family vacation and I didn't want to ruin it.
I was sitting by the window next to Jaxon. He had his eyes closed and his earphones in his ears. I took my bag, pulled out my earphones and plugged then in to the small screen infront of me. I clicked on 'movies' and picked out 'pitch perfect 3'. One of my absolute favorite movies! After the movie I closed my eyes as well and soon enough fell asleep. I woke up with pressure on my ears. I looked out of the window and saw that we were landing. I put my earphones and the water bottle into my bag and waited until the airplane hit the ground. Then I stood up and got my backpack out of the compartment above us. We moved slowly towards the exit. Then we finally stepped on to solid ground.
Hello Las Vegas!
The next few hours weren't so spectacular. We got our luggage, hoped into the cab and drove to our hotel. There we checked in and got the keys to our rooms: mom and Michael in one room and Jaxon and I each got separate rooms. All three rooms were next to each other. Mom gave me the key to my room and I opened the door. Wow! The room was sooo gorgeous! I didn't even know such pretty rooms existed. The walls were painted in a mild red. Next to the huge window with long, white, wafer-thin drapes, was a queen-sized bed. Next to the bed stood a pretty wooden nightstand with a big white lamp. In the entrance area was a bathroom that contained a sink, a bathtub which you could also use as a shower with a shower head mounted on the top and a very fancy toilet. All of them were made out of white marble. Across from the bathroom I found a walk-in closet with light wooden doors.
After examining the closet I unpacked my suitcase and placed it's content neatly where it belonged: the clothes and shoes in the closet, the Kindle on the nightstand, the laptop and Collegeblog on the desk and so on...
After that I put on my absolute favorite summer dress (red, with a laced back), a pair of white sneakers and went to explore the hotel. Our rooms were on the 2. floor. If you walk out of one room you find yourself standing in a long hallway with red carpet walls. I walked along the hallway until I was standing infront of the elevator. I pushed on the button and waited for the door to open. As it finally opened I saw a couple heavily kissing. I shook my head and walked in. I pushed the number one and leaned against the big mirrored wall that filled the elevator. It finally beeped and the doors opened.
I walked out of the elevator and was standing in a huge hall with huge glass windows and doors that led to an outside pool with palm trees around it. The were white, long and big lawn chairs lined up next to the pool as well. In the hall was a bar and in the next room I saw a restaurant. The other rooms were closed so I couldn't see what was in there. So I went up the elevator again to see what the others where up to. Mom and Michael where still in there room 'packing' as they said through the closed doors. But who knows what their where up to. Jaxon's room was very quiet so either he was sleeping or writing or on his laptop, phone. I decided I would Skype with Maggy. It had been too long without my best friend. I opened up my laptop, went into Skype and clicked on Maggy's name. Three dots appeared and I waited until she would answer. Finally her face popped up. "Hey Hayl," she said smiling. "Hi." "How's the weather and how are the boys in Las Vegas?" She said the last part in
a way that it sounded like she was hosting the late night show. "The weather is really nice and if you mean a particular guy then I'm sorry to have to disappoint you but he's sleeping." "Very sad, very sad. How's Ayden?" I looked out of the window. That part I hadn't told her yet. Should she know? I decided, since she was my absolute best friend there's nothing she shouldn't know. "Yeah, him," I said. I didn't like to talking about him. Not after what had happened. "That night, at the party, he made out with Jessica Anderson." Maggy's eyes went big. "The Jessica Anderson!?" I nodded. "Wow," Maggy said. "Does he know that you know?" "Nope, I've been rejecting his calls." "Well I think you should tell him!" "Yeah probably-" that same moment my phone rang. We both looked at each other. Than I picked up my phone and looked who was calling. "It's him," I whispered. "What are you waiting for? Answer it!" I answered. "Hayley, what the hell!? I've been trying to reach you for the last week! What's going on!?" I had to hold the phone away from my ear because of all the yelling. I took a deap breath and then said "Ayden, I know about you and Jessica. I was at the party and saw you two making out." It suddenly went very quiet at the other end. "Well, I probably had to much to drink." "It didn't look like it." I tried hard not to burst out in anger. "Show him, girl," Maggy whispered. "You know what, Ayden McKenzie? I've put up with all of your excuses because I liked you. You were so nice to me and always had my back. But as soon as you think I'm not there, you go and make out with Jessica Anderson! As in your Ex! Seriously!? That is the worst thing you could ever do. We're done here!" With all of the confidence that I had, I hung up! "Wow, you really know how to brake up with someone. Could you teach me," Maggy asked. I smiled. I had a good feeling but at the same time I was sad. I thought we were meant for each other and that it wouldn't end like this. "So," Maggy said looking like she was about to unpack the newest iPhone. "What' you gonna do about 'you know who'?" "Oh come on. We're not in the wizarding world of Harry Potter! (Also one of my favorite books, by the way) I'll watch how things are going. I always think the men should make the first move, though. If he likes me I think I'll know." Maggy raised her eyebrows. "Oh, come on. You can tell 5 miles away that he's into you." I rolled my eyes.Later that day we went to the restaurant to eat. (I had the best burger ever!) After that, mom and me went to take a swim while the men where lying on the lawn chairs. I do have to say: it kind of felt like family.
As we were back upstairs mom said that she would go to bed. Michael stayed in the room.
So I decided to look for Jaxon. I knocked on his room door. No one answered. I knocked again. No one answered. I slowly opened the door. His stuff were lying around everywhere. I closed the door again since no one was in there. I wondered where I should look next. The bar! I ran to the elevator and waited for the door to open. As I entered the hall I looked over to the bar. Yep. There he was. Sitting alone drinking a Cocktail. I walked over to him. "Hey." I lifted myself up on to one of the bar chairs. Gosh, those things are high. As he didn't respond I asked "what are you doing here?" "Drinking a Cocktail." I slowly and very obviously nodded my head. Awkward! "What are you doing
here?" "I needed some company." "Why?" "Well, I just now broke up with Ayden because he was making out with Jessica Anderson at the party last week. And beacause it would've been awkward talking about that with mom." "That sucks." He went on drinking his Cocktail. "You know Jessica?" He then asked. "yeah, we're in a class together. Why?" "She's, well, she's my ex." "Ooh." I had raised my eyebrows. "Well, then. Welcome to the 'Single-Club'." I smiled. "I feel honored."
