I was lounging around the Guild Hall when Laxus, the Lightning Dragon Slayer, walked in followed by the Thunder Legion.
"How'd the mission go there Sparky?" I asked as he sat down at the bar a few seats away. The Thunder Legion sat on his opposite side, left, I was in his right side.
"What do you care metal mouth?" He asked, ordering a drink.
"I was just asking because you're limping and reek of blood!" I stated, sipping at my beer.
"That's probably because some idiot slashed at my leg. Got a pretty good gash because of it!" He said, sipping his beer when it arrived.
"Poor Sparky! Not used to being struck and hurt?!" I teased.
"Knock it off Gajeel! Leave Laxus alone!" Freed, captain of the Thunder Legion, stated, leaping to his feet, sizing me up.
"Somebody's jealous, huh Freed?" I mocked.
"Stop it Gajeel!" Laxus replied, not even looking my way. I just shrugged, chugging the rest of my beer, then walked over to the Request Board.
"Wait Gajeel! Come over here for a second would you?" Mirajane called over to me. I walked over to her at the bar.
"What is it Mira?" I asked.
"I have a job that's perfect for you and Laxus!" She replied, smiling.
"Wait! Me and Sparky? Why us two?" I asked, glancing over at him, he was staring at me.
"Sorry, but the man who requested help wants both you and Laxus!" She said.
"What do you think Sparky? Wanna take this job with me?" I asked, turning to him and smirked.
"Stop with all this Sparky shit, now!" Freed shouted, taking out his sword and threatening me with it.
"It's ok Freed. I don't mind!" Laxus said, lowering Freed's sword as he stood up.
"Really?" Freed asked, sheathing his sword.
"Yes, really!" He replied.
"But why?" Evergreen asked.
"Because he's the only guy aside from Gramps who actually challenges me now a days and not to mention that since he's so brutally honest, he's not afraid of me, it's kind of refreshing!" Laxus replied, smiling.
"I've never been one to feel fear!" I smirked.
"Ok, you boys are all set!" Mirajane said, handing me the flyer.
"Thanks Mira!" I said, folding the flyer and pocketing it for now.
"Can I tag along?" Pantherlily (lily) asked, jumping onto my shoulder.
"I don't see why not! I mean, you're Gajeel's Exceed partner, so I actually expected you to come along!" Laxus said.
"Plus someone needs to keep you two to keep you from killing each other!" Mirajane said, smiling.
"What did you say?" Laxus and I screamed at her in unison.
"Knock it off you two and get going!" Master Makarov shouted at us. Laxus and I took off out of the Guild like freaking bullets.
"That was to close!" I stated when we finally stopped and rested after arriving at the train station.
"You think?" Laxus breathed out.
"Where we headed?" Lily asked. I took out the flyer and looked at what the job was.
The man who requested the job had asked Laxus and I to come to his small village to help with a monster terrorizing them. According to the job request, this monster can spit acid that dissolves anything and everything that isn't flesh or metal, it's super strong, and lives in a watery swamp.
