It had been a week since you moved in and you were starting to find your way. You had decorated your wall with inspirational quotes and posters of your favorite superheroes (which was weird for the boys since they know the heroes ) and also posters of your favorite anime and celebrities. You also started on a small college on your wall of photos with you and the boys. It was Dicks idea.
So far you had pictures of mostly you and Dick making funny faces or just smiling and then 3 pics with you and Tim. In the one photo you had just woken up and were having a cup of morning coffee with Tim as he told you about his life, you didn't know the picture was taken til you heard the snap of the camera. You feel like you look horrible in the picture, messy hair and exhausted looking face. The second photo with Tim was where you two were playing Tekken together and you were both cussing towards one another and you could see the rage and frustration on both your faces. Again, you didn't know the photo was taken til Alfred showed you the picture. The last photo was one you and Tim took by yourselves, you were standing outside by the pool, you were smiling and Tim was sticking out his tongue.
You had yet to get photos with everyone else, but you weren't in much of a rush. Bruce had said that he would send some police over to your old home to collect whatever stuff of yours was left. You were grateful for that cause now you could add old pictures of your old life onto the college.
You had decided to go visit the library that Tim showed you, you wanted to see if it had any books you were familiar with though you already knew the answer would be yes. When you got there you found the door slightly open, you shrugged it off and thought that someone mustn't have closed it properly on their way out. You walked in and took a look around.
You froze when you saw a familiar man fast asleep on the couch. You turned to walk out but the door had been slammed closed by the wind from the open window.
"Who's there?!" Jason shouted as he woke up with a fright. You shakingly turned around to see him glaring at you.
"I'm really, really sorry! I didn't mean to wake you! I came in here looking for Harry Potter books but then I saw you sleeping and then I went to leave but then the wind blew it shut and it woke you and now you're mad and I don't want you to be mad because you're suppose me be my brother and now I'm rambling and can't shut up! All I wanted was Harry Potter! Shut the fuck up (L/N)!" You were scared he hated you now. But you were surprised to hear him laugh.
"It's okay." He said when he was done. "It wasn't your fault the door slammed because of the wind, not you and who the fuck taught you to swear?" He asked with a mischievous smile.
"Um...no one..." you answered not sure what to say.
"Don't be so tense, kid. You said you wanted Harry Potter books?" You nodded in response. "I was just reading the Half Blood Prince before I dozed off. I'll show you where the rest of the series is." Jason got off the couch and gestured with his hand that you follow him. You did so but kept some distance. You walked through the many sections of the library before stopping by 'H'.
"You like to read, kid?" He asked after you thanked him for showing you.
"Sort of." You answered. He raised his eyebrow, indicating for you to continue. "I read every once in a while. My mom was a journalist so I mostly read her articles she had in the paper. She quit her job to be a stay at home mom. My dad would read with me when he wasn't out working."
"That's pretty cool, kid. You wanna be a journalist when your older?" Jason asked.
"I don't know what I wanna be. I didn't know I'd have a future when I was living on the streets. I thought that was it for me. I was convinced that I would die." You said as you schemed over the other books that fell under 'H'.
"Yeah, I know what that's like." Jason said, you looked at him in surprise. "I was a street kid too. Living out there is no joke, especially at night."
"I'm sorry..." you said, feeling bad that you might have brought back bad memories for him.
"Don't worry about it, kid. It happens to the best of us. At least tell me you were able to protect yourself out there?"
"Yeah, my dad taught me some self defense when he was still alive. I can take care of myself, most times."
"Well, you show me what you got one day and I'll teach you some new things. Make sure that you're able to take care of yourself, all times" he smiled, Jason saw a part of himself in you and he was glad about it, surprisingly.
"Are you serious?" You asked wide eyed.
"No I'm not Sirius, I'm Jason." He smirked before walking away. It took a moment for you to realize what he was talking about. He was about to walk out the library door when he heard your laughter echo against the walls. He smiled.
He saw a part of himself in you...the him he use to be before the Joker killed him. He wanted to protect that part. He wouldn't let a damn soul hurt you any where near as badly as he was hurt. No one would lay a harmful finger on his little sister. He'd fuck up everyone of Jokers crooks before he let you get hurt. He was sure of that.
Chapter bonding goes to....(drumroll) Jason Todd!! Who would have guessed?
